The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. It stands on the site of an ancient Roman fort which crosses the river. The medieval ruins of the castle still tower over the river and are well worth a visit as is the nearby Bowes Museum. Walking country is right on the doorstep of this market town, with woodland walks, and cycle routes in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines with Teesdale Ways the River Tees and waterfalls at High Force are all within easy reach.

On arrival we were made very welcome by Ang who was only a call away if we needed anything. The place was spotless, with all mod cons and a very well equipped kitchen. The apartment is in the most perfect and peaceful location looking over the river and the castle, and just a few minutes walk into the lovely town centre and lots of fabulous riverside and woodland walks. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone "
