"The cottage is beautiful but there were serious issues with cleanliness. On departure we were requested to strip the beds and found no pillow protectors, stained pillows and bedding. We found previous guests nose pickings on the mattress. Only 1 bin in the cottage located in the kitchen which was filthy. Cobwebs and dust in every corner, hairs and dirt on the wooden floors, dirty taps and bath, the list goes on. My wife complained to Sykes Cottages who contacted the owner. The owner phoned my wife direct promising a partial refund. No refund received and the owner is not answering our communications. Sykes have been unhelpful. A disappointing stay and outcome for what should have been a short break and a special occasion."

"We arrived at this beautiful house just as the coronavirus restrictions were being introduced. Did it stop us from having a great stay? No. Is Pam, the property owner, a nice Lady? You bet she is... Are her animals adorable and super-friendly? Oh yes! The village was unfortunately in the first throws of restrictions but we managed our keep fit walks plus had no trouble getting food from the village. If it can be this good under these restrictions just imagine what it will be like when we get back to normal. Will we come here again.....most definitely! Thats why we have given this location a 5-star review.....it deserves it!"

"We arrived late Friday night to find the wood burner already lit and the house super toasty. The photos don't do this property justice it's absolutely amazing. It is absolutey immaculate and all open plan which meant my family could mill around and still talk to each other. There's a huge leather couch and 55" Panasonic TV with full Sky Sports and Movies, excellent wifi speed and plenty of choice of what to watch with a huge DVD selection and Netflix. The bedrooms were spotless and modern, with egyptian cotton bedding which I've only ever had in hotels and goose down duvets and pillows (we were offered hypo-allergenic by Pam the owner if we preferred to feathers). The master bedroom has a huge super kingsize bed and my husband and I hardly knew each other was there! My two sons had a double bedorrom each upstairs off the mezzanine and their own bathroom and shower which pleased them no end - away from the elders! The ktichen is well equipped with everything you'd need including Tassimo, microwave, washing machine etc. Theres a Bowers bluetooth speaker which we used wirelessly and the sound was amazing within the space as it has vaulted ceilings. Out and about - the property is perfectly placed for seeing much of County Durham and Northumbria. We visited Hadrians Wall and Beamish Museum. The boys went paintballing for the day and clay pidgeon shooting at a centre less than 3 miles away whilst we visited Durham City. We visited Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh up in Northumberland which were fantastic as well as Barnard Castle, Bowes Museum and High Force Waterfall. Eating out - we ate in Buon Appetito and The Black Bull in the village (about 5 mins walk from Bridge House). The Duke of York and Fir Tree in (3 miles) were 5* too. Chinese and Fish and Chip shop in the village too as well as aSpar and Londis type shop. Good butchers and two cafes too. Pam was an amazing host with an excellent local knowledge and went out of her way to ensure our stay was amazing. We had a visit from Clem the fattest cat ever and fed the ducks that were next to the property each morning. Thanks again Pam, we've booked again for next year and thanks for a memorable and amazing stay. The Browns from Thornbury x"

"This is a fantastic cottage. We've stayed here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves both times. Pam, the owner, is friendly and helpful and on our first stay really went out of her way to help us out of a difficult situation. Bridge House is a lovely cottage with all the facilities you would expect and more. Our kids particularly loved the huge TV and Sky Cinema. Wolsingham is a really nice with a lot of walks which you can do from the cottage. If you pop into the Black Lion (and I recommend you do) they have a set of leaflets published by the council with various walks ranging from 3 to 7 miles from the village centre. Other attractions nearby are Hamsterly Forest (great mountain bike trails), Beamish open air museum, Durham (use the park and ride and if you go to the cathedral take advantage of a guided tour) and further afield Hardrians Wall (Housesteads Fort is amazing) is doable in a day. There are a few eating out options in the village. The star of the place is Bueno Appetito, a very good, but not cheap, Italian which is definitely worth a visit. There are three pubs in the village, the aforementioned Black Lion which doesn't do food, The Black Bull which had just changed hands on our recent visit and I think is planning on doing food and the Bay Horse which looked like it did decent pub meals although we didn't try them. There's also a pretty decent chippy and Chinese takeaway. The Chinese has some pretty bad reviews in TripAdvisor but we had absolutely nothing to complain about and would definitely use again. There are also two small Spar-type shops which are well stocked and a cash-point. All in all this is a great location for a holiday and Bridge House is the ideal place to stay."

"This is a truly wonderful holiday cottage in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village. Not only is it exceptionally spacious but the range of facilities is amazing. The owner, Pam, is very welcoming and on hand if you need anything, nothing is too much trouble. The log burning fire was lit on our arrival which made the cottage lovely and cosy and our first evening there was spent watching movies on the huge TV, feet up sprawled out on the massive sofa. The beds are extremely comfortable and lend themselves to a great night's sleep. The kids didn't even have to fight over the best room as they normally do because both of the rooms available to them were gorgeous and each had a double bed. The kitchen has everything you need and we particularly appreciated tea, coffee and milk being available, not to mention the prosecco and chocolates! As if the kitchen isn't already enough, we made use of the barbecue one evening and sat out on the patio. Having two bathrooms makes the morning getting ready routine so much more relaxed especially with teenagers! Talking of teenagers, the all-important Wi-Fi was present and met their requirements, you can't get a better recommendation than satisfying two internet hungry teens. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this accommodation."

"Amazing house in a beautiful location. The house is comfortable, very warm (great log burner) and extremely well equipped. Large bedroom downstairs, with en-suite, was great for my elderly mum. Fabulous variety of toys and games for all ages, not to mention DVD's and Sky TV. Lovely welcome basket on arrival. Pamela ,the owner, is so friendly and helpful. Our 22 month old grandaughter loved Badger the dog and Brenda the (rather large) rabbit, not to mention the 2 cats. Wolsingham is a lovely village with a couple of good coffee shops and good pubs. great area for walking as well as visiting Beamish, Durham, Darlington and Newcastle. Can't wait to go back!!!"

"My family booked this place for a week, and we managed to stay here for one night. quite easy to find. lovely location. The place is amazing! loved the way it has been set out and decorated. The place is set out of the back of the owners house ( in the back door effectively ) It has a garden with swing and slide, few cats and a dog roaming about - all very nice, and all Badger ( the dog ) wants to do is play fetch. would love to stay here again! worth a visit!"

"This immaculately presented, spacious and well - equipped property is an ideal base for seeing or touring some of the most beautiful areas of northern England. Walks straight from the door and not too further afield also. Can't speak highly enough of the host who is warm, approachable and unfailingly helpful.. Available close by and always very accessible for advice and tips for making the most of your stay. The house is located at the edge of the village but close to all amenities. It would make an ideal base for three couples or a family. It is really beautifully designed and well laid-out. There isa garden and seating for sunny days and a river babblng gently by! Highly recommend"

"Stayed here with my wife and 3 kids. We all loved it . It is very modern with a full sky package and big telly for cosy nights in . House is very warm even without the log burner lit. Owner Pamela couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice break in a lovely location. "

"Spotless house with extra luxuries which really made our stay. Good outside space which the kids loved (Swing and flat lawn). New kitchen with a washer and loads of room. Lounge area very comfortable with a giant TV! loads of blu rays provided plus sky movies. For a house with such a vast open internal space, its very warm. We didnt use the log burner as the central heating was toasty. Beds were very comfy and the bathrooms very clean. Pamela is a lovely host - friendly and around if needed. The location is great with cafe's, pub and shop within about 150 meters. We enjoyed food in the pub (huge portions) and the chippy too. Indian about 9 miles away delivers for a few quid. The house is ideally located to explore Yorkshire, Northumberland and Durham. You could stay here for 2 weeks and not run out of things to do. Great!"

"Myself, wife, two daughters and my Inlaws spent a week in this spacious & contemporary cottage with more than enough room for 6 people. Huge TV with full sky package for cosy evenings in. Situated beside the babbling beck with ducks a plenty. We found it to be in a fantastic location with beautiful drives across the dales within minutes. The village of Wolsingham has lots to offer for families with a playing field & fantastic park. A local Spar shop for the essentials (larger supermarkets are a bit of a drive). Good Chinese takeaway that will deliver to the door. Circular walks from the door. Hamsterley forest is on the doorstep & definitely worth a visit. Although we had a 5 hours drive, it was well worth it. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the owner Pam for your hospitality. The girls loved being there too. See you again soon X "

"On a arrival is was due to snow, we were greeted by the owner who was very nice and cheerful, she showed us around to the house and was greeted by a roaring log fire, so warm and cosy after a 3 hour drive! the house its self was very impressive and had a very tasteful and modern look. All the facilities were fab all of which had a good cleanliness. during our stay at bridge house the owner made every attempt to make sure we had a comfortable and easy stay, She made odd check up to make sure we had plenty of logs and were warm enough. The owner was also on hand to give you local advise on anything including take away's, local shops and places to go walking. the place its self is very remote and peace full, if you are wanting lots of countryside and walks its ideal! if you want shops bars ect Newcastle is a good hour away which can be a headache. On th plus side Durham is only 28min away. Overall this an excellent country retreat, would definitely go again but with more family and friends. A++"
