Beaumaris rests on the Isle of Anglesey situated overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range. It has a medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) and is also a major centre for yachting. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips. Further afield is the port of Holyhead with regular ferry links to Dublin.

"Good news first: clean, spacious, warm, off-road parking in the middle of Beaumaris is a definite bonus. Bad news: the front door lock was faulty so the key had to be replaced. This caused enormous stress and disruption, I actually took an overnight bag out with me one day in case I couldn't get back in. The extractor fan in the kitchen was broken and the window is inaccessible. A previous guest had noted that the fire alarm is rather sensitive, they had set it off simply by grilling bacon. I changed my planned menu after recognising this. Bedroom chest of drawers: the top drawer disintegrated the first time I tried to open it but it was full of clutter anyway, as were 2 of the other drawers. The tv & wifi didn't work at any stage during my stay. I refused to let this spoil my holiday, and actually enjoyed my days out. On my return home I tried to negotiate some compensation with the owner, submitting a lot of evidence to support my claim. I got nothing but excuses. I have never been so relieved to return to my own home."
