"The photos must have been taken years ago as it looks nothing like that now. When we arrived there was an uncovered chainsaw on the wall where the plants are in the main photo. This remained there all week along with half full oil & petrol cans, windows, radiators, various tools and broken lights. The children play area was strewn with broken building materials and a skip. The gazebo / barbecue area was filthy and mouldy. The owners dogs were allowed to roam free through the grounds unsupervised. They were very friendly dogs but were defecating everywhere and no one was picking it up. The advert claimed the cottage has 'Sky TV'. It doesn't, it has freest which is very different. The rooms were all dirty and covered with cobwebs. The en suite bathroom wasn't a bathroom but a shower room. Both the en suite shower room and main bathroom were mouldy and dirty. The metal towel shelves were full of rust which covered the provided towels, which in themselves were incredibly tatty. Then entrance to the site was strewn with rubble and metal girders where a building was being demolished."

"My sister booked this cottage for a family break, me, mum sister, brother in law, neice and my Staffie. We had not had this kind of holiday for 30 years and I can honestly say that thanks to the hosts of, and Tower Cottage itself, we had the most relaxing family break we could have ever had. It was tranquil, chilled out, very well equipped, clean and neat and tidy. I have never been on a letting basis holiday before and was unsure about it, however on arrival we were greeted by friendliness from the owners and exuberance from Buddy their dog. We were shown the facilities and they were plentiful. The cottage had a real home from home feeling about it. To be able to lay in the comfortable four poster bed listening to the countryside sounds of the night as I drifted off to sleep made for some of the best nights sleeps I have had. To be able to open the door in the morning and watch my dog just race down the huge field with Buddy who called for her bringing his toys every morning was relaxing for me, no being dragged on a lead first thing and infact just knowing everything you needed was there in full working order in the cottage was wonderful. A perfect idyllic location with fantastic views of the countryside, blue bank, Whitby abbey and steam trains across the moors made for a brilliant family holiday and I want to return again soon for lots more "me" time. I can't recommend this place enough for the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life! "

"The cottage has a rustic charm and quality to it but unfortunately I thought it's price was in the upper end of the market. The cottage description in the brochure is correct but not very accurate, they don't mention that the en-suite bedroom is off the kitchen with an unsealed door which means cooking smells go through. They don't mention the stairs up to the tower bedroom are exceptionally steep half stairs which are a nightmare on journeys to the bathroom in the night or first time in the morning. The livingromm is nice, spacious but the furniture in the bedrooms is dated all beds sqeak and wobble. There is big gaps under the doors which mice obviously get into hence the reason for all plug in mice deterrents. The cleaning left a lot to be desired, we found old socks in in the drawers as well as a pair of used tights. I know it is the countryside and spiders webs are to be expected but they were there when we arrived. Everything just needed modernising and spruced up, it was all very shabby and broken. great location for the dogs though and fabulous view. I would go back if cheaper. It was the most expensive out of our shortlist."

"We have visited this property several times in the past and always really enjoyed our stay. Richard has done a lot of work on the grounds since we were last there and has enhanced the views in a spectacular way. Our dog Zac had great times with the other dogs who were staying in the other accommodation and with a few acres to run around in both dogs and owners slept well after all the exercise. The owners Richard and Mary make you feel very welcome and requests are dealt with efficiently and with a smile. If you want a fab place to stay that will chill you out and let you enjoy the locality at your leisure then this is the place for you."
