The School House is a detached cottage in the tiny village of Dacre, two miles from Ullswater. The cottage has a double bedroom, a bathroom and downstairs, an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside is off road parking for one car, and gardens to the side and rear with furniture and a BBQ. The School House makes a wonderful romantic retreat or a peaceful base for those wishing to enjoy the scenery, walking and mountains of the Lake District. Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Electric heating with woodburning stove in sitting area. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, TV with FreeSat, Wi-Fi, DVD. Fuel, power and starter pack for woodburning stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair. Off road parking for 1 medium sized car. Lockable bike storage. Enclosed lawned garden to side and rear with furniture and BBQ. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 2 miles. Note: Stairs in the cottage are narrow and steep.

Dacre is a small village within the Lake District National Park, just a couple of miles from the beautiful lake at Ullswater. Dacre has a pub, a castle and an ancient church. Five miles away is Penrith, with a further selection of amenities. The wonderful scenery, mountaineering opportunities and plentiful lake, water and mere sights of the region make this a great holiday base.

"Just spent another wonderful week at this cottage, our forth year in a row. The cottage is very comfortable and cosy with a log burner. Lovely garden for our two dogs and the pub next door run by Susi and barmaid Fran was very homely and welcoming and dog friendly. Looking forward to our next visit! "

"The place is lovey and super clean. In a pretty little village. It did however lack the basics, just 3 tea bags provided (one per day perhaps) no sugar, no hand soap in the bathroom, had to find the bin liners to put in the bin myself. Logs provided but no fire lighters. There was a small welcome note and a (out of date) inventory of kitchen utensils. Maybe I have been lucky in the past when staying in cottages, getting things like sugar provided. Some personal info on the local area and walks would have been useful. "

"This is the perfect little cottage for a bolt hole for one or two and a dog. Peaceful village, handy pub next door (the sort you can take the dog in), easy to get to, lovely woodburner and nice decor. The ducks next door were lovely to wake up to! My only negative was the mattress was a little uncomfy - everything else was perfect"
