"The only problem with this cottage is you won't want to leave it. The most beautiful, sweetest cottage I have ever seen. In idyllic, isolated surroundings, it's like stepping back in time. Came here for Christmas to escape the city and had a lovely break. Enjoyed the company of local cats and donkeys and the exceedingly friendly hosts and neighbours. Highly recommend it."

"Spiddal thatch cottage is a small but utterly charming old pre-famine cottage that has been beautifully and comfortably restored by the owners Steve and Mary, who are very welcoming and helpful. It has a spiral staircase to the first floor which could be difficult for young children and the elderly or infirm to negotiate. The location is very pretty, set amongst fields with numerous green lanes to explore, which are flanked by tumble-down dry stone walls, abundant with wild flowers. There is a fascinating deserted village nearby and a quiet stony beach 30 minutes walk away. A good base to explore Galway and the surrounding area."

"This is a 200 year old family cottage renovated sympathetically for modern living, ie hot water, shower and heating when required. Steven, the owner provided much needed directions as the cottage is at the top of a narrow lane and was there to greet us and show us around. The milk, tea coffee and freshly baked scones provided a thoughtful welcome. Spiddal is ideally suited for exploring Connemara and close to Galway and the port for the Aran Islands. The rural setting gave us a week of peace."
