This pretty village of Cotherstone is nestled by the wooded banks of the rivers Tees and Balder, within Teesdale in the south west of County Durham. Resting three miles upstream of Barnard Castle, with several listed buildings, a cluster of stone built houses and three village greens, this delightful location is superb for touring the beautiful North Pennines AONB and the northern region of Yorkshire Dales National Park. The village is sparsely populated by isolated farmsteads, boasts two local pubs and small shop, and a quaint village hall. Take a gentle stroll along the 6-mile Circular Walk from the Fox and Hounds on the West Green and enjoy the pleasant countryside surrounds and picturesque views along the way. Nearby Barnard Castle offers cobble streets, yards and back lanes, a 16th century bridge and castle ruins as well as a plethora of shops and bars. Further walking routes are right on the doorstep from here with the Lake District, the Pennine and Teesdale Ways, all within easy reach. Explore a rich area of beautiful moors, verdant pastures and historic architecture, all from a fabulous village base!

"My wife and I came here with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter (6yrs). Accommodation excellent, house extremely well equipped and service level exemplary. Additional touches such as welcome hamper for ourselves as well as the child, but also one for our dog! along with lovely Christmas tree and tasteful decorations throughout made our arrival most enjoyable. A Christmas gift awaited our little one under the tree along with a birthday present as she turned 6 on Boxing day. Wonderful attention to detail which we found delightful. The location of this rental is excellent for exploring the surrounding countryside on foot and excursions by car further afield will be rewarded as Co.Durham is a beautiful part of the world. As our stay was only 5 days, we have booked a week in May next year."
"Cannot recommend Roseville cottage enough what a lovely stay we have had. We booked to stay at the cottage for a family weekend away for the festive period and was not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by a beautiful welcome hamper and festive decorations in the living room to give a warm cosy atmosphere! The owners could not do enough to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable as well as providing a travel cot for our 4 month old daughter. The small details were such a lovely touch. The fields that surround the cottage provided lovely scenery especially on the frosty mornings. We have had a fantastic time and would urge anyone to book a stay in this cosy cottage thats filled with character and quirky features. Highly recommended!"
"Took a short break before our daughter gives birth to her first grandchild this is a lovley quickie little cottage.Loved having breakfast sat outside fresh milk on the doorstep with such beautiful views to wake up. The welcome packs were a nice touch even our dogs were spoilt. Allready booked again thank you David & Jayne for a lovley chilled weekend"
