Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Private driveway for at least four cars and horse box/transporter. Travel cot and highchair available on request. Four well behaved pets welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Morpeth is a historic market town in Northumberland, England. Two castles were built by the de Merlay family to defend the river crossing in Morpeth; the first on Haw Hill in 1095 and then Morpeth Castle in the 13th century to the south of the older castle. Remains from prehistory are scarce, but the earliest evidence of occupation found is a stone axe thought to be from the Neolithic period.

"We stayed here for the first time with my parents this August while visiting family nearby for the summer, from New York State with my teenage children. The cottage could not have been more perfect. Loved everything about it. The cottage itself, the amenities and the location. The owners were wonderful and a little mixup at the beginning, not their fault but the fault of the booking company was resolved immediately. ( Thank you! ) We will and are definitely returning."
"Tranwell Cottage is a great place to stay. The accommodation is very good, clean and comfortable, it is close enough to the lovely town of Morpeth which a 10 to 15 minute walk to the town centre. The cottage is very peaceful and very relaxing. Our hosts looked after everything we needed, even down to a welcome for our dog. Well Done. As a base for discovering the local area and amenities, it really is superb. You are 30 minutes from Newcastle, if it's shopping your after or there is the Quayside, with it's bars, theatres, and the Sage which is just across the river Tyne. The area is awash with historical sites, Whitley Bay and the sea front. A little further up the A1 is Lindisfarne Castle, which is spectacular. All these areas/sites are definitely worth a visit. As I said before Tranwell Cottage is a great place to stay, the accommodation is that good and meets the highest standards, it caters for all your needs and wants. So wether you decide to explore North, South or West , Tranwell Cottage is a great base to start from. I will be back to this location, it meets all my needs. Thank You. Mal and Pam."
