With its wide range of amenities and traditional shops, pubs and restaurants, the market town of Pickering serves as the official gateway to the North York Moors National Park. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway whilst fans of the Harry Potter films will recognise some of the locations used in the Philosopher's Stone! The Beck Isle Museum is within easy reach and is well worth visiting for its unique collection of black and white photography and displays of rural life. The rolling hills, valleys, rivers and abundant wildlife of the North York Moors make them a wonderful place for walking and cycling.

"The Bower is within Walking distance of FlamingoLand. On arrival we were greeted by the owners and given a quick tour of the building, which consists of a large kitchen area, bathroom with shower over the bath, decent sized dining/living room bedroom and secluded outdoor area with seating and hot tub. You've got to see the lighting in the bedroom. When our host demonstrated them, we both said "Wow!!". Everything is very clean. The kitchen is well-appointed and bedding and towels are supplied. If you're looking for a quiet getaway close to York/Malton/Pickering, you can't go wrong staying here. We're booking again for this year."
