Situated next to where the Taw and Torridge rivers run, Appledore has been a fishing and trading village since the 14th century, offering shops, pubs, a museum and an art gallery, as well as many activities including crabbing contests, morris dancing and fishing trips. Appledore is an ideal base for visitors wishing to explore North Devon and its surf beaches. In close proximity to Appledore is the town of Bideford, which boasts a town quay, medieval bridge, shopping area, Pannier Market, and a shopping area. Also popular among visitors are the golf courses, surfing beaches, as well as theme parks and other attractions in close proximity to Cornwall.
