Cloughton lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, just a short drive from the popular seaside resort of Scarborough. The village is a collection of cottages and a couple of traditional country pubs serving delicious fare. There are a number of trails leading through or past the village, including the 'Cinder Track', a disused 23 mile long railway track, that's now used for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is easy access to the Cleveland Way long distance trail that hugs the cliff top as it winds its way to Hayburn Wyke, a rocky cove with a waterfall and inn, Robin Hood's Bay and beyond to the north and south to Scarborough. A popualr destination since Victorian times, this vibrant seaside town retains many of its original attractive buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. Ideally situated for touring the coastline and the moors, Scarborough is an ideal base for a fun-filled break.

"Absolutely beautiful little cottage within easy reach of Scarborough, pub over the road. Everything was lovely and clean, bedding and towels smelt so fresh. Shower was amazing. Wood burner was such a bonus, nothing quite like the smell and sound of a crackling fire. And even though it is situated on a busy main road the traffic noise is minimal because the cottage has such thick walls. Lovely little touches around the place, like the owners artwork, every little attention to detail, even the washing up liquid bottle had its own little coat. Would certainly recommend... thank you Alex for making us so welcome"
