Chirnside, in an elevated position, overlooks the Whiteadder Water and the Cheviot and Lammermuir Hills. The village's history is portrayed by a 16th century dovecot and a parish church believed to be from the 1100s. Close by is Berwick, boasting narrow streets within Elizabethan walls, shopping and dining facilities and an arts centre. The local area offers fishing, golf, walking and riding opportunities and nearby Eyemouth, Coldingham and Spittal have beaches.
