The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village.

"Booked to stay at Hotel on our way up to Scotland. Stayed 2 nights in the ullswater suite. Booked 2 rooms. Having elderly parents with us they took the ground floor room 8 and we had upstairs room 33. Check in was very quickand staff very pleasant. In fact all staff were. Roons were perfect each with its own small kitchen. Only downside downstairs was the passage for all the roons. It creaked very loud when anyone walked on it. A full hot breakfast was included in our price. And it was cooked to order. Dinner was ok but reservation required try to go earlier as service was quicker fron kitchen. Great lication easy access to m6. Will i go back yes.... Nost helpful staff as left our phone chargers behind they were found and put in lost property. We collected them on our way from scotland."
