"Unfortunately when we arrived on the Saturday, we discovered that the heating did not work. We reported this on the Sunday and it was repaired Wednesday morning. Obviously these things happen, however the manner of one the members of staff at Lakes Cottage Holidays was appalling. Yes she did offer us another electric heater, and provided us with a second quilt with no cover on from underneath the stairs, but not once did she offer an apology. Her manner with my husband, daughter and myself left a lot to be desired. Manners cost nothing, we did not expect a refund, but I will be honest if that lady had been placed in that situation for four days without any heat in October, I bet she would have had more to say than what we did."

"We used the apartment for a short stay during Easter holidays. I like the fact that the living room and dinning room are upstairs very handy with the boys who could have their own space. The apartment is just a short distance from the town centre and from the walks we did. No need to use the car ( parking space provided). The flat had all the comfort we needed for a relaxing time which is a plus and the view was also fabulous."

"This split level apartment is about four minutes walk to the start of the pedestrianised Main Street in Keswick. There is a very good parking space outside the main door allocated to the apartment and a lift which goes to both floors, the top floor being you living room/kitchen combined and downstairs are two bedrooms, family bathroom and snug reading room. The views as you would expect are great over the rooftops to the hills and the apartment is bright and clean and while we were there we found it very quiet. We really liked the apartment and as there were only two of us there was plenty of space, Keswick is a great place to visit and we do a lot of walking whilst there. The only downside to the apartment was that the washing machine didn't work, the on/off button was stuck in and the power was on all the time with no visible sockets and it was inoperable. We reported it first thing Monday morning as we knew we would have to do plenty of washing due to the walking we were doing and we were disappointed to find that we had no further updates from the management company until at 4pm on Friday afternoon the repair man arrived, stated it was a fire hazard as he could not isolate the machine and said he could not fix it. I do not whilst on holiday expect to find myself in the laundrette and it doesn't matter how much the apartment was and if it for a week or a year, management companies usually have much faster response times, the next day being standard. I have rented from a very similar management company in Keswick before and they attended that afternoon when there was an issue. That is my only issue with the property but still worth considering as a more serious issue with the property and a five day response time could ruin a holiday."

"We always try to stay in Chaucer House apartments when visiting Keswick. On this occasion, all others were booked for new year. This proved a cosy apartment in which to shelter from the extreme wind and rain during the last week of 2013! The bedrooms are lovely and the double bed is really comfortable with views over the rooftops to hills beyond. We didn't make the most of the little reading room but could see it being more appealing on a sunny day. The photos of the apartment don't really suggest the amount of floor space that is under the pitch of the roof - not really an issue until our tall 6'2" friend visited! You do pay a slight premium for this apartment - maybe for the additional reading room as oppose to living space."

"This two storey apartment was perfectly placed in Keswick. Less than a two minute walk would take you into the centre of Keswick. The apartment itself was clean, spacious and well maintained. An excellent experience"

"Fiona and the young ladies in the office were very helpful, pleasant and polite they are a credit to your company. With people like this your company will always be at the top of my list for future stays in the Lakes."

"We had a fabulous stay at Chaucer House and are looking forward to returning next year. The location was quiet, but very near all the amenities e.g. Keswick, Theatre at the Lake, parks etc. The accommodation was first class and very clean and tidy. We picked up our keys as instructed by very friendly staff. Excellent."

"This duplex apartment is wonderful. It is only 2 mins walk from the center of Keswick with all it's lovely shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars and 5 mins from the lake. It has fantastic mountain views from every window, plus the advantage of a parking space. It is really well equipped inside, home from home. The only negative, which is why I gave it 4 starts instead of 5, is because the shower was blocked up the first day of using; it hadn't been cleared out from the previous occupants, plus inside the toilet bowl could have been cleaner. I'd definitely recommend this apartment."

"We booked apartment after speaking to an agent from booking office. Advice given was very helpful in helping make best decision regarding location. Apartment was lovely and was perfectly located, minutes walk into heart of Keswick. Would definately stay here again. Lots of pubs, cafes and shops. Visited pencil museum and imagination centre on one rainy afternoon and kept us all occupied. Parking was good and useful if you wanted to have a sample of the many bars and cask ales!! Children enjoyed it and liked reading room in the apartment and even suggested we should have one at home."

"Our stay did not start well as the boiler was not working when we arrived and the property was very cold. However, a plumber arrived within half an hour of us reporting the problem and took about an hour to fix it, which was fine. All the comments below should be taken in the context that Skiddaw View is described as 'luxurious' in the description on the Cottage Holiday Group website... All the top floor windows were very noisy and draughty when the weather conditions were windy (which was quite often during October!) and one window actually blew in when it was very windy on Sunday evening. Although the TV is perfectly serviceable, it is rather old and small. We were also disappointed that a property advertised as 'luxurious' did not have wi-fi (although to be fair, this is not advertised in the property description). We found the front bedroom to be very noisy due to regular bell chimes and noise from the street. It also has white blinds and no curtains, so becomes light as soon as dawn breaks. The decorative condition of the bathroom was rather shabby, especially when compared with the rest of the property. Finally, my wife also found it very frustrating that there were no mirrors in the bedrooms. The only mirror is in the downstairs hall and does not have a plug socket located near it. Our disappointment is therefore based on the issues above. This is a shame because the property is in an excellent location and could be a great property if these issues were resolved."

"This is a superb property, ideally situated about one minute's walk from Keswick's Main Street. The parking space provided is essential due to the very busy surrrounding area. The apartment is spotlessly clean and finished to a high standard. There is also a lift to both floors of this duplex style apartment which was helpful with our young baby's buggy. Key collection is also a bonus as the office is a short walk from the apartment."
