"Can't fault the location here, being a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. And a parking space right opposite is a real bonus. The owner was excellent in communications and always replied promptly. The house itself is just starting to show signs of age, in our opinion. The en-suite shower is looking a little worse for wear, and the beige carpet seems a strange choice when there are boots and dogs around. But overall, a nice place to stay. Can't comment on the heating issues others have had, as we were lucky with the weather."

"My second stay in less than a year at this cosy home. It's so central for everything - restaurants, shops, lake, park etc. We had fabulous weather while there but it did turn chilly in the evening, the log burning fire was lovely. I would highly recommend this home, I stay with my family but think it would be a good base for a group of friends to stay too. The owner is very helpful and nothing seems to be any bother. We are already looking forward to going back sometime in the near future."

"We have rented a few houses in Keswick for walking breaks and this was as good if not better than any. Very comfy, central for the evenings and warm. Will be on the list for a return trip"

"A lovely house, plenty of space & good facilities for a self catering holiday. Central position with good access to the town and local facilities. Getting out for a10am was a bit of a squeeze but managed to leave things as I would hope to find them. Would recommend the house highly."

"Great house all you need for a base to explore the Lakes. House was very comfortable, we were working so welcomed a nice homely environment at the end of a busy day."

"We rented Catbells for 7 nights for ourselves, our two daughters and father in law over the 1/2 term. It has parking for 2 small cars, wifi, two bathrooms and 4 beds. We also took Lola our Staffie with us as it is pet friendly. The house is great (even has a PS 3 and a stock of games). It is only a 5 min walk from the centre of town, but this is far enough for it to be quiet. We will be going back and can thoroughly recommend it."

"The cottage is well laid out and comfortable and we felt at home as soon as we walked in. The big advantage for us is that it is dog friendly; it has a shared garden so you have pick up straight away, but we would do this anyway. It is also well located near to the centre, only a five minute walk to all the pubs and shops. We would definitely recommend to friends and would put it down as our first choice if we visit the lakes again."

"We stayed at Catbells with our two young children and family dog in January. One of the bedrooms was not in use due to decorating at the time but that was okay because we didn't need it - and we were made aware in advance. The house was clean and well presented... and lots of room for the children to run about- unlike others we have stayed in that have been a bit cramped. Keswick is a great place to stay and this house couldn't be more central - walking distance to the park and shops literally a couple of minutes away. It even has sky+ on the TV and we haven't come across that anywhere else. If you have more than one car, then the street can get a little crowded with visitors parking at the weekends. And the big plus - the wood burner!"

"We stayed at this house before xmas. It has a great location right near the centre of Keswick. The decor is modern and fresh, there are TVs in every room, free WI-FI, and the wood burning stove keeps the living room warm. Our only small criticism was that the bathrooms were not heated. The owner was very helpful giving us tips about where we could go with our dog."

"The location of the house is great, 3minutes and you'll be in the town centre, great if you have children. Outside impression of house fine, although they should advertise a parking space as there isn't! When we entered the property the first thing we noticed was the smell... Either mouldy food, dog wee or damp, maybe all three. It was so awful the first thing I did was go to supermarket and buy a plug in air-freshener. As we had a child, we had to move a bed against a wall, I don't think it had been vacuumed under the bed for a long long time. The decor of the house isn't to my taste and the furniture is abit shabby. Many curtains don't fit properly, and with it being a brick house the condensation is very bad. The kitchen isn't as well stocked as other properties I've stayed in. The photos provided by agency make the property look better than it is. Although there was a shared garden we didn't use it as the squirrel with a tail put us off (yes, a rat). Seems a neighbour feeds the birds so the rat has plenty seeds to eat."

"This is a lovely old house which has been furnished to a high standard of comfort and is ideally positioned for both the Convention Skiddaw Street site and the town centre. The owner is very concerned to see that his guests enjoy a first-class experience and achieves that aim in a friendly manner."

"We wanted a base in the Lakes District to visit family and couldn't have found a better place to stay! A very spacious house with everything we needed for a few nights. A great location being a very quick walk to the centre of town and all the shops, pubs and restaurants. And if you wanted to cook at home, I found Catbells to have one of the better set out and equipped kitchens during our time away. The bedrooms were large, the beds comfy and the setting was peaceful. We easily found on street parking (the car space provided was too small for our larger than expected rental car) and made the most of the shared garden area and the tiny courtyard as it was beautifully sunny during our stay. Simon, the owner, was incredibly helpful both before and during our stay, and it was a pleasure to deal with him and stay at his property. I would love to stay here again when we next travel to The Lakes District."

"The house was very comfortable and homely. Being a couple of minutes walk from shops and pubs was great, yet the street was fairly quiet. Parking was a little bit of an issue as was dogs in the garden with one of the neighbours, but these were very small inconveniences compared to the positive aspects of the property."

"This cottage was fantasic. Everything that we needed. So close to town, shops and bars. Rooms were clean, easily enough room for six girls. Will definitely stay again with family and friends."

"We chose this property because it was pet friendly, close to the town centre and big enough to accommodate our family of four plus my brother and his girlfriend. It did not disappoint. The accommodation was tastefully decorated, well arranged and benefited from wifi, dishwasher and washing machines etc. worth noting that the outside space to exercise dogs is shared space with neighbouring properties who may not be so pet friendly. I would certainly recommend this property and look forward to staying again in the future"

"My family (3 kids, parents, grandparents and dog) stayed here over the Feb half term. We found Catbells to be in a great location as we wanted to be in walking distance of restaurants, cosy pubs but within close proximity to the lake and good walks. Despite it being half term, we didn't have a problem with parking our cars either. The house is clean and spacious and we didn't feel to be living on top of each other plus our children loved that there was a playstation in their bedroom! We spent cosy evenings in front of the logburner before retiring to very comfy beds which was great after a tiring day on the hills and mountains. We found the kitchen to be well-equipped when we cooked meals although if I had to be picky, it could do with a couple of sharper knives for prepping veg! We booked Catbells direct with the owner which was really easy as he was very friendly, flexible and kept in touch in the run up to our arrival, not to mention answering my many questions about the area and activities. We'd definitely stay here again."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Catbells. It's much more than just a holiday cottage as the owner has made great efforts with the decoration and the furniture. There are nice touches everywhere. It's really well situated with the centre of Keswick literally just a minute away, and it was great to be able to bring our dog. The beds were really comfortable and the bathrooms clean and welcoming. And the free wi-fi was a great bonus. I have stayed in Keswick many times and this property is my number one, looking forward to our next trip!"

"Only stayed for a weekend but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Nice to have a place to stay where Oscar was allowed. Easy access to Centre of town & beautiful walks/climbs. Majority of pubs Wuff friendly. Catbells is a lovely house with a bit of magic to it. Will be back."

"The property is in a good location as its right in the centre of the town with the added bonus of a shared garden. Those were the only plus points. The decor could be more colourful rather than being drab and depressive. The cheap wooden dining chairs coupled with a table which should have been double the size was not adequate for a property that sleeps six. The bedding hadn't been changed from the previous occupiers. Central heating had a mind of its own!! Should I continue..."

"Polite, friendly service from agent. The fact that the house was in close proximity to the town centre and close to good places to eat was the reason we booked. Well equipped with two bathrooms and pet friendly I would recommend to friends. Some personal items on display made young children nervous (large black cat kite on landing wall). Experienced occasional difficulty in parking near to house at times but expected in a popular area."

"A great house in a great location. Plenty of room throughout with all the amenities for a family taking a Lake District break. The washer and dryer are a particular benefit when the holiday includes walking and a boot rack too! A short distance fromn the town centre means no need to get the car out at night, pubs, food and shops on the doorstep. Can't recommend more highly."

"As a group of friends coming to the Keswick convention Catbells was a perfect base. We were amazed at the quality of all the fittings and in particular the kitchen. Little details meant a lot like the towel for muddy dogs! Close to a well stocked little spar shop and all amenities it was ideal. We would have booked for next year at the end of our stay if it had been available."
