Glencaple sits on the banks of the River Nith in southern Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The village offers a pub serving food, a Post Office with a shop and a tearoom also with a shop. North is the market town of Dumfries with its fine architecture and a number of shops, pubs and eateries. Gretna Green is nearby, as is the Galloway Forest Park for those outdoor enthusiasts.

"the cottage is clean and homely there is everything you need to stay ,please be aware that there is NOT an inclosed garden so its not very good for dogs and there is NO beach unless you want to get sucked into the quick sands but on the plus side the views are amazing and there are plenty of walks once you are out and about in the car oh a car is a must because you cant walk to the village its not very safe there is not a proper path but from that it was okay"
