Stone Cottage is very pleasant, welcoming, set in the lovely little village of Butterknowle. It can sleep four people in two bedrooms and it has a shared family bathroom. There is a separate kitchen, dining room and comfortable sitting room. Leading off from the sitting room is the front door to the enclosed garden, a delightful patio area with a small table and two chairs, overlooking the little school playground. Resting in a quiet location with rural surroundings, Stone Cottage is ideal for the family to take a break together.

Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot, highchair, stairgate, off road buggy and moses basket available. Ample off-road parking. Patio area with private access at front. Two well behaved dogs welcome, more may be allowed on request. Sorry, no smoking. Pub 6 mins walk.

Set between the pretty market towns of Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle is the village of Butterknowle, near to Hamsterley Forest. Head West to spend the day in Barnard Castle, set on the site of a Roman fort, where the medieval castle ruins still tower over the River Tees. A short drive eastward from Butterknowle brings you to bustling town of Bishop Auckland.On the outskirts of the town you can wander the ancient stones of the Binchester Roman Fort, the largest in the county. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep of this village, with the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a few miles away, whilst an array of interesting towns and a wealth of historic attractions can all be found within an easy drive.
