Sturminster Marshall boasts three pubs, a farm shop, a golf course, a shop and a Post Office. The White Mill in the village is owned by the National Trust. An easy drive takes you to Wimborne Minster with its market, Blandford Forum or Poole harbour.

"As a base for our Dorset holiday , you would have trouble beating this property, it's large and spacious but tired... This with a little bit of time and elbow grease would be a fantastic venue instead of a good one... We stayed here as a group of 4, drive way big enough for our 2 cars, this was a easy check in with a key safe, Once in and opened all the windows , ( the heating had been put on ) it didn't need to be as it was a cool 21 degrees... the lounge is a good size, just needed a clean, kitchen big ,again needed a clean, but dishwasher just wouldn't wash, we even went out and purchased salt and rinse aid but this didn't help. I think if your going to list as an amenity, it should do the job. So hand washing it was.. bedrooms big and with lots of storage, and clean bedding. Showers worked but very little water pressure just needs updating.. games room, now that is realy stretching the description, it's just a very small, child's size table and nothing else. Dining room just a bit cluttered. Good size garden and we enjoyed sitting in it with a cold beer, again just needs a bit of pruning and clearance. Now don't get me wrong even with having to clean the kitchen and looking past the untidyness, this is still a great property and we would book again, just be aware that not everything works as it should and you might have to clean on your arrival, ( depending on your standard's)."
