"Kirkbank cottage is a beautiful cottage with so many extras! A cottage implies a small place, this house is large! The living room has an open roaring fire and the dining room has a small log burner. Everything we needed was provided, dog bowls, iron, internet, hairdryer, hoover, logs, coal and firelighters...... even chocolates on arrival! We had a small problem on the Sunday night (we had locked ourselves out), the owners drove for over an hour late at night to help us and wouldn't take a penny for petrol. The lady who owns the house was in touch with us several times to see if we were ok regarding locking ourselves out - nothing was too much trouble for the owners. One last thing - location is fabulous! Ten minute walk to the lake and ten minute walk to Windermere. Thank you so much x"

"Spent a great week at the beginning of February at Kirkbank cottage with family. Warm and cosy after day of walking. All 3 bedrooms are large, and lovely and warm at night. Cottage had everything you could need/want re facilities In kitchen. Some leaflets or literature on places to visit nearby would have been helpful though, also if I had to point out one thing it is that we were told coal/wood was provided for fire and wood burner, however there was barely enough for 1 night with the fire lit. And a list of places where we could purchase wood and coal from would have been helpful too. Overall a lovely cottage, a lovely welcome box of chocolates was a nice touch, recommend. Grizedale forest and Tarn Hows are nearby and are both lovely places to visit, as is Windermere, Bowness and Grasmere. "
