Carlisle rests just 10 miles south of the Scottish Borders and is nicknamed the Border City. The county town of Cumbria is steeped with history with Carlisle Castle which is still relatively intact. You will also find the Settle to Carlisle railway, which runs through breathtaking scenery to the popular Yorkshire town. It is also close to seaside town of Silloth and Gretna Green.
