The historic town of Kirkcudbright is situated on the north Solway Shore on the banks of the tidal waters of the River Dee. Kirkudbright's harbour is still active today, and the fishing trade has always supported the town. The picturesque town centre is characterised by wide streets and pretty pastel coloured houses, as well as the fascinating ruined McLellan's Castle. Historical attractions worth a visit include the Stewartry Museum and its permanent exhibition of objects representing the history of life on the Solway coast. Known as the artists' town since the late nineteenth century and a wonderful selection of art galleries, crafts, and antique shops still thrive here today.

"This could be a lovely holiday cottage but unfortunately the cleanliness of the cottage is very poor, the kitchen isn't fit for purpose, freezer has mould around inside of door with dirt and hairs inside, the cooker had cobwebs between both glass doors, the toaster was hidden away in unit, very dirty so didn't even try it. Dining table chairs didn't match and one just about fell apart, we didn't dare let children use it. Cobwebs all over table lamps in living room and cobwebs all over units, this is standard cleaning which should be done regularly before guests arrive. Ceiling lights rusty. As I said this could be a really nice place to stay because location is perfect but unfortunately the standard lets it down, needs a bit of a refurbishment urgently especially kitchen, would not recommend staying here until it's sorted"
