St Margaret's at Cliffe has long been a holiday hideaway and during the years has been home to many famous people including Noel Coward, Peter Ustinov and Ian Fleming. Some of the Bond books were indeed writen while Fleming was staying at his home in St Margaret's at Cliffe. It is believed he gave his character James Bond agent number 007 after the number of the bus that still runs between London and Deal. At one end of St Margaret's Bay there are a few cottages, two were owned by Fleming, one of which was rented to Noel Coward, the cottages are still there looking out over the English Channel. The coastline above the beaches are The White Cliffs famous throughout history as the a defence against invaders and often seen in films as the first glimpse of English shoreline.

"We loved everything about this most unusual, quirky property. Location was very good in a quiet and peaceful area of the village. TOFS is without doubt one of the best equipped properties we have ever stayed in. The big, single storey open plan living area gives a great feeling of space and light. Comfort levels are first class and include king size beds. Wi-Fi signal is very good and the property is spotlessly clean. The owners were friendly and helpful and very generously provided a welcome pack which included a bottle of wine and milk. Even dog bowls and dog towels were provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at TOFS and definitely intend to return this year."

"Our family of 7 plus 2 dogs spent a week at The Old Fire Station this summer. This is a lovely place to stay with spacious, modern and clean rooms. The owners provided just about everything we could think of, even leaving us some fresh milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine! The accommodation is really querky, such a good conversion with little touches to bring its history alive. The furnishings and general finish are really good. Outside there is plenty of off road parking as well as a secure rear garden which was great for our dogs, no worry of them getting out. Although dog friendly it was all really clean, no sign of 'dogginess' anywhere! We also had our elderly parents with us so the fact everything is on one level really helped make their stay easy. The location is a nice area, well kept with easy walking access to great pubs, restaurants and the village shop. We particularly liked The Smugglers pub for food and oldie-worldie atmosphere. The beach is down a hill but you can drive a car down to it. We went crabbing with the kids there. We took our dogs to Walmer beach several times which was only a few minutes drive, a good place for the kids to swim too. There were plenty of things to do locally such as Dover Castle which is huge, water sports in Dover, good shopping in Deal and further afield at Canterbury. We also had a day trip to Calais where there is a lovely sandy beach just a few minutes walk from the ferry port and a free bus ride to French shops...easy to do in a day. Well done to the owners of TOFS for creating such a nice place to stay, we will definitely recommend this to our friends and would book again if we visited the same area."

"Stayed at The Old Fire Station for a week at the end of August. The accommodation was absolutely brilliant. 3 Double bedrooms one with en suite and one single room. The accommodation is pet friendly and the garden is completely secure so no worries about your four legged friend getting out. Close to the white cliffs in Dover and handy for visiting the local castles. Beaches about a 10 minutes drive from the property. The owners Mark and Jeanette are really friendly and any issues with the property they are happy to sort out. Would highly recommend this accommodation for anybody planning to visit Dover."
