Set in the heart of the Kilmartin Glen is the village of Kilmartin. The Glen is one of the major prehistoric sites in Scotland, and within a six mile radius there are standing stones, the remains of an Iron-Age fort at Dunadd, rock carvings and burial cairns, making the region a fascinating area for history buffs. Kilmartin itself has a museum and visitor centre, two castles and a variety of shops providing all amenities for visitors. Eight miles away the town of Lochgilphead has a choice of cafes, craft shops, and other stores. Loch Awe is the longest inland loch in Scotland and there are some lovely walks around the loch and fishing is also available. This area is a super base to discover the joys of this stunning part of Scotland.

"So much to enjoy about this 7 day break away from our busy home/city lives. The wildlife (my daughter felt like she was on the set of the Peter Rabbit film), the spectacular views of Loch Awe and the general peace and tranquillity of the area. Add to that a lovely spacious cottage with the bonus of the loch-side cabin and you have a very happy family. Simone and Ian (the owners) were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We arrived to home made scones & bread and some delicious strawberry jam. They provided us with bird and squirrel food to keep the daily visitors to the decking area happy. Watching these daily visitors took up the first 1-2 hours of each morning and it was a real privilege to get so close to the red squirrels. We also did a spot of fishing (fishing tackle provided by Ian) off the private loch-side pontoon which we had access to. Spent the last evening on the pontoon taking in the natural beauty and magnificence of the loch...and also in hope of spotting a pair of local nesting Ospreys. Bluebell cottage is the perfect place to switch off and unwind!"

"We wanted a remote area and got it. The B road to the cottage is a single track road with passing places and is situated 14 miles around Loch Awe one way and 7 miles from the other end. The cottage is gorgeous. We particularly liked the wood burner, two bathrooms, cosiness, and bird table in clear view. I liked having a daily cuppa at the table watching the birds, red squirrels and rabbits on the veranda. On arrival we were greeted with scones and jam and the friendly and very helpful owners provided bird food, fishing tackle, an abundance of logs and useful information. The area is beautiful and the short walk to the private area of the Loch with the jetty and summer house makes it extra special. Not one complaint or niggle from us, everything made our holiday very relaxing."

"Spent a week here, last week in June 2014. Weather was good; except for the 'midges' but that was a minor irritation. It's quite a long drive down a single track road, alongside the loch, to reach there but the cottage is well worth it. The cottage is well laid out, spacious and comfortable. Owner's property overlooks the place but apart from a visit from Simone when we arrived they did not bother us at all. There are no really 'local shops', nearest is about 7 - 10 miles away, so you need to go prepared for the first day or so. The area is beautiful and enjoyed several days out whilst there. One downside for me was the lack of an internet connection at the property and out of our party of 4 I was the only one who had no trouble with mobile phone signal (Vodafone). That said I would recommend the cottage to anyone."

"Cottage was well equipped with every amenity you would need. Electric heating, etc was reasonably priced. The beds and pillows were the best I have ever slept in apart from my own. The journey from the main road at each end was a 13 mile nightmare down a single track road with bends and no lighting, which made night time driving a nightmare, and a good 20mins. The most dissapoointing aspect was that from the websites pictures I was expecting the Loch and the Jetty to be the views from the cottage. This was not so as the jetty was a 1/2 mile down the road, and the views were of 2 other cottages at the front and the woodland from the back."

"Bluebell cottage was mostly as described with one real draw back the brochure did not give the impression that the cottage was 5 miles down a track with poor road surface putting at least 1/2 hour extra on any journey from the cottage to a main road. I have already written to you reference this and had no reply. however that said the cottage was clean, warm and relaxing and would be suited to a family wishing to do outdoor pursuits."

"A perfect well proportioned immaculate cottage in an amazing setting. Peacefull and private. Owners couldn't have been anymore helpful or friendly, they catered for all our needs and were really lovely people. We stayed for 1 week and did a lot of walking & some cycling using the excellent mountain bikes offered free of charge by the owners. The log fire was superb with plenty of logs & kindling available throughout our stay. We were also provided with wild bird seed for the bird table and it was great to watch the wild birds feeding while we ate breakfast. Would love to keep this amazing place a secret but that would not be fair to others so please give this cottage a go, you will not be disappointed and you will be wanting to return as we are."

"Wonderful cottage, well kept spacious. Wonderful wood burner keeping us warm as toast in the chilly evenings. Warm welcome by owners nothing too much bother kept us well stocked with wood. chickens came down to cottage to see us every morning for breakfast, scenery was wonderful and no two days were ever the same. Local hotels and pubs very welcoming warm friendly locals, lots to see and doif you want to go out but plenty of pleasant walks near by if you want to stay close to house and just chill"

"This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in in Scotland. The cottage is very spacious and clean in a very quiet and tranquil area. The owners were great, they let us know they were available if needed. One of the good features can also be a disadvantage its very isolated down a very winding single track road, 15 miles in one direction and 9 in the other. If you have good weather and want to spend time around the cottage and the loch you couldn't find a better cottage, but if you want to explore the local area everywhere is a long drive away and the single track road becomes a little tiresome. We had a car breakdown and the closest car rental that would deliver the car was in Edinburgh so it took 2 days to arrive. One tip is to ensure you have a Vodafone or an O2 (not as good) as there is very poor phone reception. A great cottage if you like quiet but a little too isolated for us."

"a superb cottage in a slightly remote place with great owners just next door. Excellent facilities. If the weather had been better we could have just sat in the lovely garden all day."

"Freindly and very helpful owners. Beautiful and spotless cottage. Boat and cycles made the holiday and extra's like wine and flowers on arrival. The cottage is half way along the side of Loch Awe so this does been a 10 mile dive either way but with the fantastic views you can't complain."

"Despite the bad weather we had a wonderful time. Beautiful surroundings and breathtaking views. The cottage was spotless and had excellent facilities. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, bringing us fresh wood every day for the woodburner and even offered some of their food when the snow got really bad!!! We will be back!"

"We loved the cottage and surrounding area. The cottage had everything we needed. The owners Ian & Simone were extremely nice and very helpful. The only "bad" thing would be howw far away from everything the cottage is.We ended up getting a flat tire and because the cottage was so far from Glasgow the rental company couldn't get any one to us. For 4 days we were stuck at the cottage, considering it was our honeymoon that wasn't a bad thing, but we didn't really get to explore Scotland like we had hoped."

"The cottage was lovely, very quiet and comfortable. We liked the welcome touches - wine, biscuits, flowers etc. and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Our only minor criticism would be there was nowhere to hang towels in the ensuite - there is an ideal area behind the door for a towel rail and hooks on the backs of the doors would have been good. The area was wonderful with many places of interest to visit and great walks from the door. Overall an excellent week - somewhere we would love to re-visit at some point. We have recommended the cottage to friends who have already booked !"

"An immaculate, well appointed, spacious yet cozy highland hideaway in the middle of beautiful nowhere. Surroundings are delightful and previous heavy rains had turned the burn at the bottom of the garden into a whitewater cascade. Brilliant! Simone (the owner) was very helpful, but did not interfere in any way. The log burner was teriffic and kept me occupied every evening. The cottage is also well appointed for anyone in the party is disabled, having extra wide doors and a ramp to the front door, though there is no drop-down handrail by the loo so you might want to take your own floor standing frame if you need such a thing."

"The cottage was everything we hoped for & more. Very spacious, well equipped, new, clean, tidy. Fantastic location. The use of the boat with engine was a bonus. The tuition prior to use was very good. The owners were very friendly, nothing to was too much for them to do. The walks in the area were great. Very good location for fishing and photography. We have recommended this location to several friends. We will stay here again soon."
