Overview
This detached split-level cottage sits in the village of Sleights near Whitby, sleeping nine people in five bedrooms. Over ground and lower ground floors. Five bedrooms: 1 x ground floor double, 1 x lower ground floor double, 1 x ground floor twin, 1 x lower ground floor single with pull-out stacker bed, 1 x ground floor room with single day bed. Lower ground floor bathroom with freestanding bath, separate double shower, basin and WC. Ground floor shower room with shower, basin and WC. Ground floor kitchen with breakfast bar and dining area (seats 8). Ground floor sitting room (seats 8). Lower ground floor snug.
Charnwood is an attractive, detached cottage set in the charming village of Sleights in North Yorkshire. With five bedrooms including one ground floor double, one lower ground floor double, one ground floor twin, one lower ground floor single with additional pull-out bed and a ground floor room with a single day bed, this cottage can sleep up to nine people. There is also a ground floor shower room, a ground floor bathroom, a ground floor kitchen with breakfast bar and dining dining area, plus a ground floor sitting room and a lower ground floor snug. Charnwood is a charming base for friends and families, with amenities less than a mile away, and the splendour of the moors and coast within easy driving distance. The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday. Though quiet, Sleights boasts two pubs, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop (with cafe), a butchers, bakery and a Post Office.

"After spending hours searching for a suitable property to cater for 9 adults and 2 infants, I booked Charnwood for my husband's 40th birthday gift and I wasnt disappointed. The pictures on the websites don't do it justice- the place is huge! Very comfortable, spacious and well equipped, ample parking, big garden- just fab! The views are spectacular and the location is perfect for getting out and about exploring the coastline. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful property, we will be back!"

"WE had a marvellous weekend at Charnwood, booked by my daughter for a family stay. Charnwood comfortably accommodated nine family members in spotlessly clean, well equipped surroundings, with to die for views. It was a pleasure to stay here and we will certainly return given the opportunity. WE ate at the Plough and all enjoyed our reasonably priced and well cooked meal. There is also a Spa store for those little things we sometimes forget. An excellent weekend, enjoyed by all. Thank you."
"This is a lovey house with all you could need for a holiday. Great location 15min drive to Whitby and the beaches, 30mins from Scarborough and right on the edge of the national park. "
"We stayed for a week in February with family, adults and children totaling 9 people.The house was great ,plenty of room ,The down stairs bathroom has a fantastic bath and very large shower.The owners are nice and helpfull. if you stay in the double bedroom down stairs you will hear footsteps from people walking about in he kitchen & the loud scrape of the heavy dining room chairs on the floor. We had no problem because luckily everyone else stayed in bed till late . The only thing that stopped me giving five stars was the chair in he front room .We walked thro the front door to a fantastic entrance with wooden floor but when we opened the door to the front room the first thing we saw was a large recliner leatherette chair with the top all peeling off and cracked.Plus the two non stick frying pans had the non stick peeling off so everything stuck.Having said this in no way did it ruin anything I just thought I would give an honest review.The owner did pop round to put the bin out and did ask if everything was ok and I did say yes !!. We enjoyed our stay and felt it a real privelage to stay in such a nice place . We did have a bit of a shock when the window cleaner just appeared at the window on his ladder without letting us know . I would recommend Charnwood to anyone and would go back again without a thought. Thank you for letting us stay !!!!! It was fun chippy at the end of the road and Whitby about 5 miles away ,plus Goathland a couple of miles up the road ,Oh and in Sleighs a great butcher,baker & Spar"
"We had the pleasure of staying here for a week in July. The property is very clean and modern. The decoration and general repair to the property is superb. We had a very enjoyable stay and it really is like "home from home" The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms clean and airy, the kitchen was very well equiped and the living room was very comfortable. Plenty of parking outside and a large garden with great views. I can find no fault with this property whatsoever. We hope to return soon."
"We stayed here with our son, daughter in law, baby grand daughter and our dog. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. It had everything we wanted, including a clean travel cot, very well equipped. The garden was dog friendly, with a nearby river walk for coffee to the garden centre which allowed dogs. Easy drive to the coast. The plough serves good food and is baby and dog friendly. One of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. A perfect holiday."
"Charnwood is well placed for visiting Whitby, sandsend, scarborough, pickering etc only short drive to the sea. Sleights has a great butcher and bakery and a Spar shop if needed. The fish and chip shop at the top of the lane is good value. The home is very comfortable. The beds were like sleeping on air. We would definitely stay again. (Even though Wifi wasn't always available in the property). I would recommend if you want to relax in very plush surroundings."
