Church Stretton is a pretty market town in the heart of rural south Shropshire. Described as "Little Switzerland", the town is surrounded by stunning scenery and is the major part of Shropshire's hill country. The town offers a good selection of pubs, tearooms, and specialist shops, as well as other attractions including fantastic walking opportunities on the Long Mynd; the fascinating Acton Scott Working Farm, and the ancient Stokesay Castle. Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bishops Castle are all historic local towns with much to offer to visitors, and they are all an easy drive away from Church Stretton, as are the beautiful Welsh Borders.

"This is our idea of heaven! The cottage is comfortable and the location stunning, so we keep coming back! It's an easy walk up to the Stiperstones from the door and the Long Mynd is a short drive (or a longish walk). Good food at The Stiperstones Inn and The Bridges and we love tea and cake at The Bog Visitor Centre. The shop in Stiperstones sells everything!"

"A cosy and well equipped cottage. Cheese, milk and eggs available from the small holder next door. The most stunning thing about this holiday let is the location. Amazing views in all directions and great walking from the door. A fantastic base to discover a beautiful area from. The beer at the nearest pub is fabulous, can't drink too much as it's a fair stroll uphill to get home. We will be back"

"Difficult to find but well worth the effort. Climbing up the steep and winding road from to Bridge Inn you eventually turn off onto a rough track going downhill and there is Greagh Dhu. On entering the cottage we really were very impressed. Very clean, wood burning stove, a kitchen eqipped with everything you could want and a comfortable lounge complete with home cinema. Bedrooms were similarly very comfortable. The views from the house were just stupendous and we couldn't stop looking out of the windows. To enjoy Creagh Dhu you have to like being remote (nearest shop 2 ml, nearest pub 1.5 ml) but we loved it. While we were there there was a lot of rain but it didn;t seem to make any difference to our enjoyment - sometimes we went out and sometimes we just stayed in. Overall a very enjoyable week and I suspect we will return."

"Very comfortable cottage which is well equipped. Good kitchen, super home cinema and brilliant views of the Stiperstones. Loads of very peaceful and gentle walks from the cottage/within a few miles. More goats, turkeys, sheep and llamas than people. Good pub food nearby. Seems a little known gem of an area. One small minor point, the drive to the property is a bit rough."

"We booked this cottage fairly last minute and needed to find somewhere that allowed pets. Having booked everything on line, it was a simple process and directions and instructions followed shortly afterwards. We wanted something quiet and out of the way and we certainly got it. The cottage looked quite dramatic as we approached it and once inside, we couldn't believe our luck. The decor and furnishings surpassed our expectations. The welcome tray was very handy and even had a bottle of vino to let us chill out with whilst awaiting the Tesco delivery booked on line a few days before we arrived. As a party of 2 adults and 2 16 year old boys, the home cinema system proved a hit with everyone. The cottage is ideally suited to go out walking on anything from 3 miles to 14 miles and all starting and ending either at the cottage, or the local (and only) pub. We highly recommend the goats cheese and quails eggs off the smallholder behind the cottage. Take your walking boots, a day sack, a good book and an energetic Labrador and you have all the ingredients for a great week. (Oh! And a showerproof jacket for the weather on the hills.)"
