Mermaid Cottage is a cosy end terraced cottage just a moment's stroll from the beach, opposite the art gallery in Newlyn. There are two double bedrooms, and a bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. The fitted kitchen has a breakfast area, while the sitting room has an electric fire and leads to the dining room. Outside is a small enclosed courtyard, and parking is available in the public car park 100 yards away. With St Michael's Mount and Newlyn on the doorstep, and the rest of the area within easy reach, Mermaid Cottage makes a wonderful Cornish base. Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

Newlyn in Cornwall is a fishing port whose buildings cluster around the harbour, and two quays full of boats. There are amenities in the village including a shop and a pub, and the beauty of Cornwall is evident all around this area. The coastal path runs nearby and walkers will enjoy spotting the flora and fauna on land, and perhaps even glimpsing basking sharks and grey seals in the waters. Head to the beaches for excellent surfing, or participate in the many water sports which are on offer in this lovely holiday destination.

"The location of Mermaid Cottage is the best thing about it. Very close to the sea and a small pebble to sand beach. Newlyn has numerous eateries, a few small shops, lots of pubs and an easy walk to both Penzance and Mousehole and also served by a couple of bus routes. The cottage is in bad condition, poorly maintained, damp and generally scruffy. Beds are not comfortable, kitchen barely usable. The best way to describe it would be a grandparents house stuck in the 1970's. All mod cons then but nothing has been improved or maintained. Shower good but mouldy shower curtain hung from a precarious contraption. Net curtain in bathroom torn. Sticky note in windowsill with faded writing, obviously been there a long time and cleaned around. One bed was extremely soft, the other rockhard. Bed lined cheap and very well used, tiny towels with no body to them. Every cupboard opened smelled of damp and long forgotten dusty something indescribable. Stairs felt rickety and the edging strip sharp and hard on bare feet. The carpets are frayed at the threshold. Flimsy, grubby hand made curtains finish the delightful ambience. Not Cornwall's finest. Good job the sun shone and we can have a good time and not be bothered by material things. Beware and book only if you need somewhere convenient and you can cope with a lot less than perfect."
"Quirky cosy cottage, has a lovely feel to it but in need of updating especially kitchen and bathroom. Very comfy bed and views over the sea from the bedroom. Had a problem with the hot water but the owners resolved this as soon as they could, these things happen. Cottage as Also in need of a deep clean. Location perfect for exploring the area and lovely to step out of the front door and be on the beach for dog walks. Some traffic noise."
"We have been visiting Penzance area for 35 years annually with our children and now our grandchildren and rented many Cottages and used many rental sites. We founds Sykes website easy to use for someone not particularly computer literate and found booking a click of a button away. The cottage was everything it was descibed and ideal for us with young children and the location was wonderful - practically on the beach and within walking distance of Mousehole and Penzance. It was so fab we have already booked it for 2014."
"Loved Penzance and surrounding areas. Cottage comfortable and fabulous location. Garden not really a garden but adequate. Only complaint was that the grill didn't fit the cooker so couldn't grill my bacon in the mornings. Had a fabulous week."
