"We travelled to Ballyferriter as a family group of 9 ranging in age from 19 to 81. The cottage was delightful; clean, beautifully presented and very spacious. With six bedrooms, there was room for everyone to have personal space and the living room and kitchen/diner were both great for spending time together as a family. The owners, Mr and Mrs Hooton, were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. A special treat was seeing all the amazing photographs of the surrounding area taken by John. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to spend time with extended family and we are already planning our next trip."

"Looking at the brochure pictures/description this property looked/sounded great; my wife and I met with our three married children, their partners and three grand children. The location is stunning, very convenient to the nearby village with several quaint Irish pubs to get really good food. The property is situated last in a group of three similar houses outside the village, the garden is well kept with a mainly plain grassed area to front and side. It is child secure with a closeable gate, picnic bench and built barbecue. Inside accommodation has six bedrooms and can sleep 12 people. On arrival the landlady met us and is a friendly talkative lady, we noted that many of the windows were open and it was late on a sunny afternoon. Once we had closed the windows and particularly the following morning we began to notice a pungent smell, this was also noticeable on return from a day out; we could not decide if it was damp or some form of rot; rather strange as the property is not old. We were disappointed in the quality of the beds, most of the mattresses were very poorly constructed and cheap; we could all feel the wire spring framing through the fabric. The property and linen were clean on arrival and the washing machine / dryer / dishwasher were all in good condition. We were only provided with one front door key and one patio key between four couples, with the explanation that the owners often left the doors unlocked. There were two sun loungers provided which were both broken and no other outdoor furniture at all. Finally at no point prior to arrival was it pointed out that the owner would take meter readings and charge extra for electricity which we thought was included in the rental fee. The property only has one very old and small TV in the lounge and one similar set that can only play Vidoes on the landing; it would certainly benefit from an HD update."
