This property is a charming first floor Romaldkirk cottage located in the wing of a detached, stone-built barn conversion on the edge of the village and just six miles from Barnard Castle. The cottage is a well-equipped, cosy intimate haven. The property has been lovingly restored and carefully styled to provide a comfortable homely atmosphere. The accommodation is open plan and includes a sitting, dining and a kitchen area with plenty of appliances. The charming bedroom has its own en-suite facilities. The cottage has fabulous views to the countryside beyond and outside there is a well-maintained, shared garden. With the award winning pub just minutes away and lots of walks and nature trails on the doorstep, this property offers excellent all year round holiday accommodation. From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

A picturesque little village in beautiful Teesdale, Romaldkirk has village greens, a beautiful church, old stone cottages full of character and two pubs; one an award winner of AA Pub of the Year for England in 2003. Surrounding the village are the stunning Dales with breathtaking countryside, making this area an ideal base for walking and touring the Yorkshire landscape. The varied terrain offers fell, flat and river walks and many cycle rides from the proximity of the village. The cities of Durham and Newcastle are an easy drive away. Closer to hand and just 10 minutes in the car is the historic market town of Barnard Castle, the 12th Century castle being one of the many attractions this ancient town has to offer.

"We returned to Henberry in May after visiting in September 2016. The cottage has everything you need and is very reasonably priced. When we visit we enjoy the lovely walks which are all quite local. You can also catch a bus to Barnard Castle.The stop is only about 50 yards up the road. There are a number of pubs in nearby villages which all serve meals or snacks at various prices. Henberry cottage has a lovely large garden with patio furniture for relaxation. Bird boxes and tables are everywhere around the property.All varieties of birds can be spotted. We have had a really enjoyable stay at Henberry each time we have visited and have been made very welcome on both occasions. We will be going again."

"Henberry is the upstairs level of a small barn conversion. It is an ideal retreat for two and is priced correctly for this size of accommodation. If you want more room, be prepared to pay accordingly. Access is up an old stone staircase with entry directly into the living room/kitchen area. The bedroom is compact with a normal sized en-suite beyond.I found the bed to be particularly comfortable. Every room is tastefully decorated and fitted out. The owners are very friendly and helpful - they live in the main house next door and were there if we needed them but left us happily to ourselves most of the time. The village has a popular, though quite expensive, pub / restaurant. There are other places within easy reach up and down the valley. Romaldkirk itself is delightful - pretty village greens and church. The location is great for walking - the Tees Valley Way passes right by the cottage. We hardly used the car all week, preferring to walk straight out of the door into the lovely surrounding countryside."

"Stayed here for a midweek break mid July. A very well equipped cottage, nice quiet surroundings in a lovely village. Owner lives next door although was away when we stayed so had some friends looking after guests, the hosts were lovely! The owner has an amazing garden with a gorgeous dog and a few cats scattered around! Cottage has all you could need and added extra's too. Lots of lovely walks to do nearby along the tessdale way, an old railway line now converted for walkers, very safe for dogs too. The owner supplies an excellent guide on things to do and places to stay. We look forward to visiting again"
"Excellent property. Just big enough fot 2 people. Great locoation no shops in the village but only a few miles from Castle Barnard. Had a good break although it was cold for april and snow was about most of the week. We would go again."
"Henberry is a delightful first floor cottage apartment, well fitted out with all the creature comforts. It has superb views and a lovely garden and is situated in the picturesque village of Romaldkirk. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we were so impressed we have booked again for next year."

"The upstairs flat was well fitted and the decor was cosy and "country comfortable". The views were lovely and peaceful. We brought our 1 year old son with us, and it was perhaps a bit too cramped with the required cot and high chair... but the weather was nice, so we indulged in the bbq as much as possible. Nice walks in the area, and the quality of the food in the local pub was second to none."
