Situated on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons.

"June 2018 was our fourth visit to Coronation Cottage. It has everything we need as we get a bit older... walk in wet room, everything on the ground floor and level access to the charming town of Helmsley with all its shops, pubs, delis etc. It's central but extremely quiet and is surrounded by a small but verdant garden. Owner David is always available to hand over his long, local knowledge. We love the Star and the Pheasant in Harome. Both excellent places... this year the Star just won the battle for finest cuisine. We'll keep re-booking as long as the cottage"

"My wife and I recently spent a long weekend at Coronation Cottage in charming Helmsley. The cottage is in an excellent location near to all amenities (shops, restaurants, the priory etc), but sufficiently private to ensure a quiet and peaceful stay. It has everything you need; fully equipped kitchen, wet room, two comfortable bedrooms and a living room /diner with a wood burner to keep the whole cottage warm. All kept spotlessly clean. The owner who lives across the court yard introduced himself shortly after our arrival and we certainly appreciated his advice on best local restaurants, as well as the lovely gesture of providing milk, tea bags, coffee and biscuits. Helmsley is a special place and a great base to explore further afield. We enjoyed our stay enormously and will definitely return to the Coronation Cottage"
