Cherry Tree House is a terraced cottage near the village of Allendale just eight miles from Allenheads. The cottage sleeps six people and has two king-size bedrooms, one with en-suite shower and one twin bedroom. Also in the cottage are a fitted kitchen, dining room and sitting room both with open fires. Outside is off road parking for two cars and an enclosed garden. Situated in Northumbria, Cherry Tree House is a lovely family holiday cottage to be enjoyed at any time of the year. Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

LPG central heating with open fires. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi. Gas and power inc. in rent. Fuel for open fires available to purchase locally. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Enclosed lawned garden with furniture. Two well-behaved pets welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 mins walk. Note: Raised garden accessed via 5 external steps, care to be taken due to the drop and may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle to the west, Hexham to the east or the Roman Wall just to the north. There are lots of walks and unspoilt villages in the area, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline.

"We've just had a lovely week in this very spacious, comfortable house. Two of the three bedrooms are huge, and there are plentiful bathrooms (3, not 4 as in the description - unless one of them was very well hidden!). The kitchen is well equipped. The location is excellent - just a few steps from the town square, with 3 pubs and a Co-Op; Allendale is well placed for visiting Hadrian's Wall, Hexham Abbey, Durham, Carlisle, and popular walking country."
"Spacious and well equipped. Wifi was fast and reliable and the small enclosed rear garden catches the afternoon sun . All three bedrooms are large, the three bathrooms are among the best we have come across in self-catering properties. The property claims off-road parking for 2 cars but would take 3 at a pinch. Of the three pubs within strolling distance we rated the Golden Lion the best for food."

"Cherry Tree Cottage is an excellent base for a great break. It is a spacious cottage with lovely comfortable rooms, a real home away from home. Situated in the picturesque village of allendale we felt very welcome by the local people. It is also within easy driving distance to Newcastle and Carlisle. Overall we would thoroughly recommend Cherry Tree Cottage as a holiday destination."
"The title says it all; it's comfortable, it's position/location makes it a wonderful base for a holiday, be it visiting the wall, walking, visiting industrial heritage, or just for a break to do nowt! 150yds from the front door there's a very good convenience store, a bakers van that parks in the square every day that sells more than passable cakes and roles, a tourist shop, two good tea rooms, three good pubs;one of them that does excelent food including 'gluten free,' and a co-op. As we said, we're trying to work out when we can return. Bum points - a loo role in every toilet would have been welcome, and the key holder; for which you open with a code, might be improved. But would we go back? Yes!"
"Good location,good pubs and local shops. Unfortunate we did find a mouse in the house and it could have been cleaner, but we enjoyed the log fire."
"Positives: Nice house and garden, plenty of room, well equipped. Lovely village and countryside.Bottle of wine on arrival. Negatives: It is in a village, not a town, there are few shops and no restaurants,disappointed there were only basic pubs to eat in, advert was misleading. House was dusty and dining room smelt strongly of dogs, which was not nice when eating. Had to make up second bed ourselves using a sheet from the other bed! Garden enclosed, but door from it was broken and wouldn't shut properly, various tradespeople in and out during week, so not private. Would have preferred soap and toilet roll to wine, save us having to go out and buy some straightaway!"
"Our stay in Allendale was lovely, there would have been lots of great walks and things to see but there was 30cm of snon, but all the main roads had been clearedand did not cause us any problems. The cottage was easy to find from the directions given, it was combfortably furnished with plenty of everything one would need. The back bedroom we found to be very cold, but it was -12c at the time and I'm sure in warmer tempretures it would be fine.It was our first visit to northumberland and we shall definatly be returning."
"Having been revisiting this part of the world for over 10 years this was our first stay in the village of Allendale. A super cottage with very good facilities. Very comfortable in ideal spot. Tried to book again but work was being carried out so booked other accomadation in Allendale. Will definitely book this cottage again."
