"Just got back from the harbour house today after a lovely weeks stay. The house is amazing and very big. Having the downstairs bathroom and bedroom is very handy. On arrival there was a yummy chocolate cake left out for us which went down a treat :) plus a selection of jams and tea and coffee. The only thing I felt was missing were cooking trays, oven gloves and a frying pan. The washer was an added bonus but drying the clothes took forever maybe the house would benefit from having a dryer. All in all we had a fab 1st stay here. This is a lovely well looked after house in a nice peaceful area. We will definitely book again. Thank you "

"The first thing about this place is the incredible location, right on the peaceful harbourside. Parking is on the road outside and there was never a problem finding a space right beside the house. The care and attention to every detail made this home a true pleasure to stay in. Every cooking utensil, bowl or teacosy you could think of was in one of the cupboards in the stylish kitchen! Fresh flowers and cake made this feel like you were visiting some loved one who had been dying to see you! All the mod cons are here, with a wide screen tv with a picture my husband was envious of, and good Wi-Fi, especially for a rural location. The garden was a special pleasure during our stay. Our older parents were with us for this holiday, and we were blessed with some beautiful Scottish sunshine, so they went to the suntrap at the top of the garden. Well, I can hardly give justice to the dazzling assortment of butterflies and bees who gave us hours of enjoyment watching them. There were so many and they were so interesting to watch about their business, it has inspired me to find more butterfly and bee friendly plants for my own garden. I would suggest to the owners to post some more recent photos, as the current ones just don't show the gorgeous array of plants and bushes. This is perfect for peace and tranquillity, listening to the sea, or actually soaking Up the total quiet. I found it took me a day or two to 'get it', and then just loved the feeling of relaxation for the first time in ages. A few good spots we visited: The ruins of st ninians church at the top of the harbour, especially the cairn where visitors have placed stones in memory of loved people or pets The Steampacket, which is just a few doors down. Good pub grub, friendly service and local folk are happy to blether away with you over a drink. The Clansman, restaurant in Port William, short drive away. Great 'old favourite' foods served generous portions, piping hot and full of flavour. Do not leave before eating the sticky toffee pudding. OMG Harbour House, so highly recommended. Ideal for young families, walkers, explorers, older adult groups who want that incredible relaxation. Amazing."

"A wonderful house that's more like a home, this glorious 3 bedroom property is nicely finished and has all the comforts of home. Sited on the quay side with a great view of the harbour. The steampacket Inn is within walking distance. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival with a home made chocolate cake. We would be happy to return."

"Every year my mother, my cousin and I go away for a week together, as we're all keen photographers. This year it was Mum's turn to choose our destination and she decided that she wanted to see the Isle of Whithorn and picked Harbour House as our base for the week. The house is newly-decorated and furnished. We walked in to what could have been a show home, everything was spotlessly clean and the owners had kindly left a welcome pack of goodies on the kitchen table, complete with an enormous home-made chocolate fudge cake (which we managed to make last for three days!). The beds were incredibly comfortable - there's a double and a twin upstairs and a twin downstairs, though whoever's in the downstairs bedroom gets ceiling noise from the person in the upstairs twin. The house is well equipped, with free WiFi, a large television with DVD player in the living room and a smaller TV and DVD in the kitchen, where there's also a digital radio with iPod dock. There's a selection of books and games as well and each bedroom and the living room is stocked with a generous pile of Scottish and countryside magazines. Sensibly the owners have opted for a digi-lock on the front door rather than a key, so no timetabling needed if you all want to go your different ways for the day, as long as you can remember the code! We never had a problem getting a parking space right outside and although we were mildly concerned about being so close to the pub, there was no noise from it whatsoever (and the food there is amazing). All in all, a great place to stay, thoroughly recommended!"
