"A rather shabby, cluttered cottage. Upholstery stained and dirty. Bathroom grubby as was furniture. Sofa and chairs worn out - have bad back from lack of support! Place cluttered with ornaments and magazines. Had to buy a frying pan so I could cook us a breakfast as those provided were disgusting. Chipped crockery and then a mixture of different sets. Needs stripping out and redecorating. Heating poor and clock still on BST!"

"We were due on 18 august 2017 however we received a phone call from SYKES stating that there were problems with the cottage and they had to cancel our stay there. This had been booked since Jan 2017 This was chosen as we were taking 1 dog, SYKES offered us 3 alternatives but none were suitable for our needs. We were later told that the property had been found to be in a poor state & generally unclean & in need of re decoration, also the washing machine was faulty, they offered a 50% reduction if we wanted to stay there ( not likely ) We will be given a 100% refund but have been told that no compensation would be payable as they had offered us 3 unsuitable alternatives or a 50% discount. Tried to find alternatives but all fully booked, so a big fat NEGATIVE to SYKES for leaving us up the creak without a paddle ! Please bear this in mind when considering to use SYKES I now will stay well clear of this unprofessional company"

"Fantastic week in this unbelievably beautiful area of the country and Pine Lodge was just perfect. Just me and my dog (and he had a whale of a time.) Lodge was a delight to stay in, cosy, warm, very homely. Everything there you could need ... just wish I could have spent another week there. BUT ... I will be back. :-) Highly recommended for up to 4 adults, not really suitable for kiddies."

"It was fantastic to be able to walk down to the jetty on the lake and go for a swim or just admire the view. We also saw a deer on the path one evening! The lounge area was very comfortable and has a big tv. However it was not suitable for a small baby as although they advertised having a Travel cot to use there was no space to put it! In the end we moved the mattress off the single bed and placed the travel cot on the base which was obviously not ideal. They should not advertise having a cot if it doesn't fit anywhere. They also advertised two parking spaces when it clearly said only one on the sign outside the house. The bathroom was compact but the shower was like having a wash under a hose pipe as the shower head was so small. Finally there was no wifi and despite ringing sykes on the day we arrived to ask about parking and wifi we did not get it until the last two days of our stay. This was annoying and when we asked for a refund to compensate we heard nothing back. Next time we will probably opt for a similar location but not this particular property."

"Nicely appointed cottage. Small rear patio, cant imagine it getting much sunlight. Close to the lake and if you're up early enough a chance to see deer as you walk to the lake. Close to Windemere village, approx 10 mins walk. Couple of nice cafes here. Grey Walls Inn is a nice local type pub with local cask ales. Food is suprisingly good also. A bit of a longer walk to Bowness. All in all a nice base for a couple with a dog. Only criticism would be the requirement of a satellite dish or better aeriel. Tv only had BBC on the odd time we were in as we ate out every evening around Bowness and Windemere. Would be helpful for a fewguide books or local menus. Wifi was slow, other than this a nice place to stay."
