This cliff top village is in a stunning location and overlooks a natural harbour on the Moray Firth coast. From here rugged cliffs can be explored along with coves and beaches, and discover the local landmark of Bow Fiddle rock. The area is a magnet for birdwatchers, with colonies of seabirds making the cliffs their home and providing a magnificent spectacle for ornithology enthusiasts. Offshore, dolphins and seals are a regular sight in this area. Portknockie has a variety of shops, including a general food store, public house, butcher's shop and more besides. Beneath a dramatic setting of a railway viaduct is the town of Cullen, which is famous for it's fish soup, known as "Cullen Skink" a delicious smoked haddock and potato dish. The North east of Scotland is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

"In general, we were disappointed with the cottage. The location is excellent; I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Portknockie and the surrounding area, but I couldn't honestly recommend staying in this cottage. It *could* have been an excellent house, and maybe was a few years back, but in general it felt grubby and lacking in care and attention. Things like dirty dishes and utensils in the drawers, dirty marks on radiators and walls, extractor fans clogged with dust, doors not closing properly, locks that need the keys wiggled in a specific way to work etc. There was also a lack of attention to the little welcoming details - no tea or coffee, no washing up liquid or soap in the bathrooms, no dishwasher tablets etc. There were no handtowels in the bathrooms etc - the little things that make a good first impression were definitely lacking. Appliances were in various states of disrepair - the dishwasher was missing a wheel on the rack, which meant it fell off the rail every time it was moved, and the cutlery rack had a loose bottom so items fell into the machine. The fridges were propped up on cardboard to keep them level. There were dirty, burst sandbags sat at the back door which brought dirty sand into the house every time you went outside. On the positive side, the house was warm, the internet connection was excellent, and the property was a good size for a party of eight, but again, the little things let it down - one tiny fridge and a single shower aren't really enough for that many people for a week. Likewise, the small bathroom upstairs was lacking hot water. So much as I hate to put a negative review on TripAdvisor, and I really don't like to moan about things, we were really disappointed in the house and I think the owners need to spend some time and money bringing the place up to a suitable standard again."

"We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Portknockie over Easter at Keltie Cottage. On arrival, and throughout the week, the cottage was warm and toasty which kept us nice and cosy after some beautiful walks along the cliff tops in the blustering wind! The kitchen was well equipped, towels were provided in every room and the large dining table meant we could all sit down and eat together. Excellent WiFi access, comfortable sofas and a large TV in the living area kept us entertained when the weather was too cold and rainy to venture out - the fairy lights in the fireplace added a cosy, homely touch too! On the whole we found the cottage to be cosy and spacious with everything you need for a self-catered trip away! We would love to visit again in the warmer weather to have a BBQ in the garden and enjoy the beautiful scenery in the sunshine!"

"This cottage was much better than I expected. It was very comfortable, clean and much larger inside than appeared from the outside. Everyone we met was friendly."

"This is a great place big enough to cater for 9 easily. I was on my own and oh the bliss of all that room to myself. It really was heaven in the Highlands for me. If you like it quiet with no mobile bothering you then this is for your. If you are too caught up in the rat race you need to travel around to get a signal. The broadband was enough to keep me in touch with the other world. What a great town didn't want to leave. "
