"Lovely location on a now unnavigable section of the Lancaster to Kendal canal lots of wildlife on your doorstep literaly. (woke up to rabbits on the doorstep several times & Swans & Cygnets at the wharf).Great views from the kitchen and upstairs bedrooms. Great base for exploring the lakes., Very peaceful and no immediate neighbours. Visited for a family holiday with our adult son and daugter and their respective partners plus our 6 month old grandaughter and our dog. Local Butcher in Burton very good. Aldi Booths and Tesco supermarkets a short drive away. Good local walks along the canal tow path. Cottage well equiped and very clean. Only downside was that the washing machine was not working. Very prompt response by the owner via phone & text but problem not fixed before we left which was a bit of a pain when we had a 6 month old and all the attendant washing that brings, plus most of the adults had only packed 3 daysworth of clothes. we particularly appreciated the loosleaf file of lakeland walks in the kitchen very useful plus the maps All things considered realy nice place to stay. We'd recommend it."

"Wharf Cottage is superb, in every sense! It sits, alone, on a now unnavigable section of the Lancaster Canal, with beautiful views all round. Peace and tranquillity reign here - sitting on the terrace, overlooking the canal, on a balmy summer's evening was bliss. And yet the cottage is very accessible to the M6, the A6 and other routes to many beautiful areas within Lancs/Cumbria. Wharf Cottage is comfortable, homely, well-equipped and fantastic for a visit at any time of the year. It is warm and cosy, the shelves are lined with books and useful information about the area, and there are cupboards full of board games. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday accommodation ... just book it!!"

"Beautiful and very well equipped cottage in an idyllic location - peaceful and private but not miles from anywhere. Surrounded by ducks, chickens, swans, rabbits, birds and various wildlife yet with a private, safe area for any kids/dogs. It really is a lovely place to stay, we loved it. We don't usually go anywhere twice but will make an exception for Wharf Cottage."

"I would highly recommend this cottage, we loved every minute of it and will certainly book again in the future. It was close enough to local amenities at the same time as being away from it all. The motorway is nearby however we barely noticed it even sat outside. The information given by the owners was all very good and although there was a lot to go through it was all worth knowing. It felt like we were at home whilst there and we didn't want to leave. I can't really say enough to explain how happy we were during our stay."

"We received excellent directions and information about the cottage from the owner prior to our holiday. The cottage is very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The woodburner was so cosy and easy to use. The location is so peaceful and the scenery is gorgeous with the swans on the canal and the pretty patio garden to sit and take in the views. The bed was very comfortable too!! I would not hesitate to reccommend this cottage to family and friends."

"great service when booking, very easy online .the cottage is in a great location, very peaceful right on the canal, dogs enjoyed walks from the doorstep.the only downside was the cottage needs decorating and could do with better furniture as the seating is quite uncomfortable after a few hours reading."

"A beautiful spot.Although only minutes from the motorway making access to the lakes easy, the cottage is situated far enough from the roads so that once there you feel that you are in the heart of the countryside. The owner leaves plenty of information and the cottage itself is very homely and comfortable. We tried to book it again for later in the year, but it was unavailable - so book early to avoid disappointment!"

"the cottage was excellent, ideal for a large family with 2 dogs. the cottage was very comfortable with a lovely woodburner in the livimg room. the kitchen was nice size for all the family to sit at the table for breakfast or meals. Set right on the canal side,we saw lots of wild life from the swan's duck's rabbit's to the local builder's chicken's duck's and geese. lovely fresh eggs every morning !!. only 5mins away from the local pubs if you decide to eat out.
