Roadside parking available next to cottage. Lockable bike storage. Courtyard and terrace with furniture. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 2 mins walk. Note: Due to the open plan nature of the garden steps, children are to be supervised at all times.

The small village of Cark in Cartmel lies just a couple of miles from its more famous neighbour, Cartmel, in lovely Lakeland countryside. Cark is a stop on the Furness railway, and visitors to the village will enjoy a stroll to the local beach, or a quiet pint in one of the two friendly pubs. Holker Hall house and deer park are just a short walk from Cark. Cartmel is renowned for its racecourse, and the town is well served with a selection of shops, traditional pubs and a Michelin starred restaurant. There is so much to enjoy in the area, from country walks to boat trips on Windermere or a trip to the seaside resort of Grange over Sands. A great Lakeland base for your holiday.

"The good points: great location, large enough to house a large group of people, fairly clean, well equipped kitchen, games and toys for children Weak points: very dated interior (although kitchen was modern), shower didn't work very well, fridge was not working, the plug had been taped on to the extension lead, on closer inspection, we found the fuse had been replaced with a piece of tin foil (dangerous!). Could have done with more loo rolls. In all, not bad but disappointing as the rental was quite expensive."
"Stayed here with friends over the new year period. House was pleasant enough but dark and wouldn't say it felt friendly although our stay was pleasant enough. Had to go out on arrival to stock up on wood for the fire - okay but had we arrived late on wouldn't have been quite so easy about it. Been to quite a few houses over the years but this wasn't one I'd like to return to. Very basic accommodation but clean - the plus is the ease to get to places from Cark. Might just be me and the house may suit others better."
"Pros Excellent location,beautiful area, railway station in village. Plenty of space for 6 adults, 5 children and two small spaniels. Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water. Cons Greeted by suspicious damp smell. Very 'bitty' decor with woodwork painted dark brown. One of the two ovens does not work. Fridge has been repaired with a DIY handle, is difficult to open and leaks puddles on to the floor. Vertiginous stone steps in the garden are a hazard for small children and the elderly."
