Morpeth is a beautiful little market town and is well placed to reach the countryside or the coast from its central location in the heart of Northumberland. The town has plenty to offer such as the ruins of a historic castle, parks, churches and an old chantry that houses a bagpipe museum. Further afield to the south lies the bustling city of Newcastle upon Tyne and northwards is the historic town of Alnwick with its castle and gardens, whilst over to the East, Druridge Bay has miles of glorious golden sands to be enjoyed by the whole family. Close by is the National Trust property of Wallington Hall and all around Morpeth there is good walking country with access to the Cheviot and the Simonside Hills, making this an ideal base for a holiday.

"I can't rate my stay highly enough, it was pretty much perfect. Everything you could possibly need was in the Cottage. It is perfectly situated in the centre of Morpeth within walking distance of everything. The service provided by Sykes Holiday Cottages and also the owners was second to none, friendly, efficient and simple. I highly recommend it and would stay there again without a second thought."

"The cottage was first class, everything in it to make our stay very enjoyable. We had meals out every night at the local restaurants all within walking distance of the cottage. The bus depot and train station were also very handy"

"Compact cottage with feeling of spaciousness due to bedrooms on both levels. Well fitted and easy to use kitchen. Off road parking very good for a town centre location - care needed on entry and exit with a larger car. Beds good but some bedroom furniture could be better. "Garden" mostly paved patio - plenty dog walking in nearby streets, parks and riverside walks. Sun trap to rear of property. Gates should prevent small children running out onto roads. Bathroom good but downstairs shower has step up and entry may be awkward for less able. Roof windows need closing when raining. Homely feeling in a busy country town of character which is a good centre for visiting the region. No major disadvantages."

"As we had no transport we needed somewhere near the train and bus station and shops near by and this cottage gave us everything we needed.Lovely warm place with log burner for those chilly evenings and though it was in the middle of town it was very quiet in the cottage. The lady that owned the cottage was so nice, nothing was too much trouble."

"Great cottage in middle of town and so close to amenities. Makes a nice change being able to walk to the shops. Friendly owners and hassle free trip. Shame the parking spot took up most of the outside enclosed space but we were able to still sit outside."

"Comfortable cottage right in the centre of Morpeth and convenient for shopping, bus station, eating places and a lovely park to walk the dog. Nice woodburning stove/ fire in front room, only downside to cottage is third converted bedroom downstairs. We loved Morpeth and the friendliness of the people and everthing about this upmarket market town. Also well positioned for Newcastle and the coast."

"As we visit Northumberland every year to see various relatives in Bedlington we found the location of this cottage, in the beautiful market town of Morpeth, ideal. The facilities were very good, particularly the downstairs bedroom and shower room for my elderly father. Only 2 slight niggles, the cottage could do with a more comfortable armchair as my father has difficulty in getting in and out of chairs. Also the TV is not very good, the reception is bad at times and we could not get all the freeview channels and my father likes to spend time in the cottage watching the TV as he did not feel like going out every day. We definately intend to book this cottage again next year."

"What a fabulous cottage in a brilliant location. Ideal base to get out an about in the North East, within easy reach of Alnwick and Newcastle. The cottage had everything you could wish for and more. A kitchen to die for with everything you could ever want in it, off road parking, close reach of all shops including Morrisons, bus station literally on your door step with great bus services to all around the area. Fabulous town centre, and you are in the very heart of it. I expected a small town but it really was much bigger than I expected and they are even building a brand new Marks and Spencer which will be open now. Very clean and tidy property and very spacious. Loved the loft bedrooms, but missed a shower up there. There is a bath but not even a hand shower which would have been useful. We have already booked again for next year and I can't wait to go again."
