This detached cottage near Carna sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. Four bedrooms: 2 x ground floor double (one with en-suite bath, shower over, basin and WC), 2 x twin. 2a Glynsk House is a detached cottage in the Galway countryside, four miles from the village of Carna. The house has two ground floor double rooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, and upstairs are two twin rooms. There are two shower rooms, one on each floor. Downstairs there is also a kitchen, and a spacious sitting room with dining area and open fire. Outside is ample off road parking, and a rear garden area with furniture. 2a Glynsk House makes a great base for enjoying the Connemara National Park, the Galway coastline, the pretty villages and towns or the lush green countryside of this beautiful region. Towering cliffs stand next to vast stretches of golden sand, whilst vast mountain ranges cradle cool, low-lying lakes. The Galway region epitomises the term ‘great outdoors'; with fantastic walking and cycling and exhilarating water sports.

Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 4 miles, pub/restaurant 1 min walk. Coast 1 mile.

The small village of Carna lies on the shores of Galway Bay, overlooking Galway Harbour, in the scenic region of Connemara. Lying off the coast of Carna is St. MacDara's Church and Island, a notable holy place in west Ireland, and a site of pilgrimage and mass in July. The sailing crafts, the 'Galway Hookers' were made in Carna, as well as a small boat called the Currach, and the area is well known for the skilled boat makers who crafted them. There are still some working examples of the Galway Hooker in Kinvara's quaint harbour. There is great fishing in the area with Lough Mask and Lough Corrib close by, while Connemara National Park, home to the famous Connemara Pony and Kylemore Abbey are both within easy reach, providing great days out for all the family.

"We arrived at the house well before dark and were promptly greeted by Anne Keane, the property manager. She was very friendly and helpful. She told us not to worry at all about our checkout time three days away, because she had no one else scheduled, which was very accommodating. The house is large and airy with beautiful knotty pine doors and woodwork. The workmanship of the trim and bathroom tilework was noticeably above average. We found all rooms clean and quite comfortable. There was a generous supply of peat to burn in the fireplace and knock the chill off. The only two negative things about the house itself were minor. First, the dryer was upstairs and the washer down. Not a huge problem, but an inconvenience nonetheless. Also, the washer door was tricky to unlatch. Anne showed us how to do it with a butter knife, but we were afraid we could break the latch each time we used the knife to open the door. The location of Carna is beautiful, wild, and remote. There is a wonderful gift shop/restaurant called The Glynsk House a stone's throw from the guest house. We purchased gifts from the shop, as well as ate lunch at the restaurant, which serves delicious food. The parking lot was usually quite crowded. The only detracting thing about our 3-night experience at 2a Glynsk House was it's remote location. It was over an hour's drive to Galway which we visited twice. However, the countryside is breathtaking through the wild and wonderful Connemara region. It might be advisable to take some time to pre-plan your days in order to limit your time driving to and from the far-flung tourist destinations in the region."
