"This is the 2nd year we have stayed at CEFN COCH ISAF. Perfect for just the 2 of us and a perfect base for getting around Snowdonia and North Wales. Small but perfectly formed."

"What a disaster- this cottage was dirty, damp and very smelly it was also very dark and the lights had to be on in the middle of the day. Very disappointed that we were not aware that the bathroom is adjacent to the kitchen and being a wet room the door had to be kept open to enable it to dry. The drains were smelly and the kitchen and bathroom dirty and the bedroom full of dust. My complaints were not heeded by the owner ( made through the agent Sykes cottages). I could not recommend this cottage at all. The area is amazing and the weather was fabulous but the cottage ruined our stay. I have asked for an apology but none received which is why I have to say how I felt. Very very disappointed"

"We stayed here for the weekend, with our dog and had THE best time! Perfect cottage, with all the amenities you need. Close to Porthmadog, Bedgelert and the beautiful black rock beach. We are just counting down the days to book again, we are definitely returning."

"We booked this cottage 'blind' with no recommendations but are so glad we did! A quaint cottage, well equipped and dog friendly. Our dog loved it too! Looking forward to returning again in September. Thanks again it was just what we needed, piece and quiet with easy access to places we chose to visit."

"Points to make this property excellent for us are as follows. 1. Access to the property is not allowed until 4pm although guests are requested to leave on their day of departure by 10am. 6 hours turnaround for a cottage of this size seems excessive. 2. It is not clear that bath towels are not supplied and that is something we would have expected given the high quality and cleanliness of the bedlinen. These a small points that could be easily addressed and would make this beautiful, very clean, well equipped cottage even better."

"Instructions told us to turn up after 3pm we get a message not to turn up till after 4pm and they had still not finished cleaning house for next guest. The kitchen needs a cooker a 2 ring hob and microwave is not enough, Needs a mop and bucket in the wet room instead of having to use our towels to mop up. For winter months the heating is poor. We went out to buy hot water bottles and blankets."

"This beautifully decorated 16th century cottage is set in the most tranquil setting in the Cwmystrallyn countryside. The cottage adjoins the owners property but with several feet of stone wall separating you the only noise you can hear is birdsong, and if you are very lucky an owl at night. The lounge is very spacious and incorporates dining table and chairs. The kitchen is well stocked with good quality equipment and everything you need to enjoy your break there. There is no oven but there are full simple instructions booklet for the convection/microwave there and we cooked a roast dinner successfully and used it frequently, so please don't let it put you off. The hob heats up really quickly and we have had a few cooked breakfasts during our stay! The bathroom was adequate and yes it is a wet room as such, but soon dries out, with a little ventilation. We sat outside where bistro table and chairs provided, and just enjoyed the lovely weather and a well earned drink, all in a totally private and peaceful garden. The upstairs again is very spacious, providing you with a comfortable bed and all the storage needed to enjoy your stay. Yes the stairs are steep but you do have solid supports to help you up the stairs. Throughout the property there are rustic beams which enhance your stay at this beautiful quaint cottage. So basically, if you are wanting to away from it all for a while, why not give it a go? We have come back feeling very refreshed. Thanks to the owners for giving so much detailed thought to the set up of this gem."

"We arrived on sat 1st August and were very impressed with the cottage, the size of the rooms didn't disappoint with plenty of room for us and our puppy. although small, the kitchen was well equipped with plenty of good quality utensils pots pans etc however the down side was no oven there was a 2 ring hob and a convection microwave but having not used a microwave for years it was a struggle ,the shower room was of a good size ,the huge attic bedroom was accessed but a spiral staircase ,very quaint ! but with deep steps which on occasion were not easy to negotiate ,we had a lovely stay and enjoyed our trips out the only criticism was the cooker and the amount of over grown trees and bushes around the property which would benefit from being cut back ,if you are staying here we would recommend a visit to Black Rock Sands beach it was fab ,but hard to find, not very well sign posted ,but follow the signs for the golf club in town and its not far past that ,amazing for walking or just chilling"

"A cracking little place, full of rustic charm and hidden away in rural seclusion (nearest pubs, shops, etc 8-10 minute drive). This is an ideal couples venue and very well placed for exploring North Wales. Spotlessly clean, well-equipped and tastefully decorated indoors, it was truly a rustic idyll - no noise just birdsong and baa-ing to be heard! Would benefit from having a mop at hand for the wet-room after showers but that's the only "criticism" as such and very minor at that. If you want to "get away from it all" and fancy something really different, definitely try here. "

"one of our favourite places to stay, the cottage is beautiful and so are the gardens surrounding it, the location is ideal too 10 minutes from porthmadog, 20 from beddgelert, and 25 from criccieth and abersoch, some great walks to be had and cymstraddlyn a very close wal from the cottage, the owners are lovely and managed a chat the first night whilst walking the dog. we have stayed here twice and another visit is needed soon, beautiful place"

"A lovely private and quiet place to stay if you don't mind being a bit off the beaten track. Kitchen a bit basic but other comforts more than made up for it. If you want to walk the local area there wasn't much specific information on hand."

"Lovely little cottage well kitted out - doesnt feel like the owner has just put leftover utensils etc there Great little wood and garden for dog to roam in first thing in morning and last thing at night. Car picked up a rodent though which ate through some wires one night!"

"The cottage was gorgeous & is in a truely beautiful setting. Everything you could need & more is provided & the owners were there to meet me despite it being dark & thrashing down with rain! I was more than surprised by how clean the cottage was & despite going on my own with just my dog I felt very safe throughout my stay. The owners didn't keep popping in on me although I knew they were nearby if I did need anything. A really lovely holiday which I plan to repeat, thank you!"

"Clear and simple booking procedure. Once found the cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The resident owner was most helpful and friendly. The least liked aspect was having to leave at the end of the week. Many thanks. ."

"myself and my husband really enjoyed our stay.We are thinking of returning for a short break again next year. It is the perfect place to have a peaceful stay. The cottage was warm and well equipt. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and as it was only a 5 minute drive away from Portmadog, so we could go shopping or eat out without a lot of fuss. We would recommend a visit to anyone wanting a retreat."
