Positioned midway between the fishing town of Whitby - with its famous Abbey - and the spa town of Scarborough with its theatres and promenade entertainment, this lovely little village provides visitors with the best of both worlds, ensuring there's something to suit all tastes and budgets. There are a network of footpaths and bridleways through the village and into the beautifully diverse countryside beyond.

"I don't think we could have chosen a nicer cottage. This was our sons first time abroad and as soon as he saw the beauty surrounding the cottage he was off taking pictures. if your looking for quaint and charming with every amenity your could want this is your cottage. All of us fell in love with Ginny, the owners Airedale Terrier. She came to the door for breakfast every morning and just added to the magical atmosphere. Had wonderful days out to Fountains Abbey and so many beauty spots in Yorkshire. I would highly recommend this cottage, it is the quintessential English dream cottage that most Americans dream of. Don't hesitate to book. We are just sad we did not get to know the owners better as they lived on the property,"

"Clean, well equipped and comfortable throughout. The owners of this property have done all they can to make their guests stay the best it can be. One grouse that I did have.. and not the owners fault in the least.. was to find the previous user of the washer/dryer had washed their dog's blanket and/or towel in it. My clothes came out covered in short white dog hairs.. and I do mean 'covered'. Not best pleased with that and said so in the visitors book as a reminder to any future holiday makers who may be rather short on consideration and respect for others ! But apart from that Swallow Cottage is a lovely place to stay at."

"We spent a wonderful quiet week at Swallow Cottage, with our two small dogs who were welcomed enthusiastically by the owners dog "Ginnie", We could not have asked for a more lovely place to stay, with the wood burner a treat on the cold evenings after our long walks along the Cleveland Way."

"My husband and I and our 2 Border Collies have just had a fantastic long weekend in this delightful cottage. The location is ideal for local walks directly out from the cottage which take in old railway track sites, Cleveland way and beauiful beaches. Pippa, Graham and Ginny the dog make you feel very genuinely welcome to their property which is located just beside their own property. Everything that you could require is provided and the cottage oozes character. It is cosy but ample sized and very quickly feels like home. We appreciated the fresh flowers and the welcome tea tray complete with locally sourced ginger and choc chip biscuits! We will definitely be going back!"

"Two friends and ourselves had a very pleasant stay in June, weather reasonably good considering this summer. Cottage was very clean with all the extras you could wish for. Owners very nice but did not see them after taking over the property as they were off on holiday the following day. Cottage handy for attractions and a nice place to return to at the end of the day."

"From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed after a lovely warm welcome from Graham. The place was spotless! Best of all we could open the front door each morning to off-lead dog walks on Pippa and Graham's farmland. Beautiful sunrises will live long in the memory."

"Fantastic location within easy walks to the coast and a local pub. Welcoming and helpful owners who even towed the cars which were stuck in the snow. Log fires and a dishwasher - what more do you need?"

"We loved our stay at Swallow Cottage, the cottage was clean, modern and very welcoming. The log fire is fabulous it makes the cottage more homely. My 3yr old loved her time at Swallow Cottage mostly due to Tommy the horse! and the highland cattle. The location was brilliant as we were based centrally giving access to both Scarborough and Filey which we love for the the seaside aspect and also access to Robin Hood Bay which we could go rock pooling. The only downside was that we had 3 days of total fog but thats the weather for you! I would recommend Swallow cottage to our family and friends."
