"My husband and i have just returned from a new year break. We went with another couple. It was a disaster. My husband's review is here to read....And all the things he said are 100% correct. The lodge was ill equipped, and poorly maintained, as you can see from his review. The hot tub in the lodge didn't work for 2 out of the 4 days. The list of issues is on my husband's review for you to read. Vanessa the owner has replied, stating that what my husband wrote was untrue. I can assure you that the 4 of us that stayed in the lodge , can attest that it is true. Vanessa kept ringing my husband, calling him a liar. And wasn't very pleasant down the phone. She wouldn't listen to what my husband had to say, and made no apologies. She also phoned the other couple, and told them what a nasty man my husband was!! My husband's criticism was honest and fair.....despite what Vanessa might write. It was an objective review of the Birkdale lodge that my husband and I stayed in. What sort of customer service, consists of phoning the customer up , berating him and calling him a liar! It shows what sort of person we are dealing with. I would definitely not return, and would not recommend this Birkdale lodge."

"I stayed at Birkdale lodge for a family break. I had stayed at these sort of places in the past and loved the luxury of your own private hot tub. So when I saw this place for roughly half the price of what I had paid in other places I snapped it up. I have no major complaints about the place, but having seen what other places do, it just wasn't as good, but then again that was probably reflected in the price. The lodges are in-fact breeze block constructions with wood cladding to give the effect of being a wooden lodge. As a result, coupled with the large skylights, the place heats up like a greenhouse, so you have to have doors and windows open. (It wasn't that warm when we stayed- late teens early twenties). Amenities were satisfactory. The TV was Freeview, with well worn remotes. There was a washing machine, but no dishwasher. This was all clear in the listing to be fair, but decent TV and a dishwasher would have been a nice added touch. Luckily there was a DVD player, so if you like your screen time - take DVDs. There is Free Wi-Fi there and the signal was very good. The hot tub was ok. It was a tad too cool. Another degree would have been nice. It was also positioned out the back of the building so anyone using it had to traipse through the main bedroom to get to it. It might have been better to place it out front next to the picnic table so people to go and have a drink without having to climb out, go through the bedroom then go into the kitchen etc. Having the hot tub next to the bedroom meant that you could hear it whirring all night as the pump and heater clicked in. For a light sleeper this meant I had to sleep with ear plugs in as it kept me awake. The listing said that there were a shop and pub within a small distance. While this was technically correct, this was not a local you could take a stroll to as there was no footpath and no street lighting. You would have to drive to it to be safe. The shop was the local garage. The site is a fishing and golf resort, so if you are a fisherman or golfer you would be in heaven. The lake looked very pretty, and there were plenty of fish to catch. If, like me, you had booked for the hot tub and were not interested in fishing or golf, then there was nothing else to do. All in all, it was 'ok'. If you're looking for somewhere to stay and plan on going out everyday to Lincoln then this is not a bad place to go. One last thing, the directions mention a little Chef on the roundabout, but this is in the process of being puled down, so the directions could do with being updated when it turns into whatever it's going to be."

"Stayed here for 3 nights, and what a relaxing few days we had, was able to take my German Shepard and even she enjoyed it, especially the wildlife! Was very thankful that the heating was on as it was bitterly cold when we got there, we had a 2 bedroom place as I went with friends, all the staff were very helpful, and we are already in the process of booking again for October 18. Also I would just like to say having read the only bad review, I must disagree, you have to remember you get what you pay for, and we believe we had a very good deal..."

"Just returned from a 3 night weekend break in the birkdale number 1. As there is also number 3. Lovely lodge to look at and clean. Down falls are sofa is so low to floor and not comfortable at all with two end bits that slide about, would certainly be no good for elderly person. Old fashioned small TV with freesat box. I didn't think much of the under floor heating couldn't get warm. But the biggest problem for me was the hot tub. It was big and lovely and warm but there was no privacy at all. No screens or anything. So if your neighbours were in there hot tubs it was a bit uncomfortable for the body conscious and puts you of going in. Park was small and peaceful. There is a bit of building work of new lodges being built which look lovely and isn't a problem. I wouldn't return in a hurry unless some kind of screening was put round the hot tubs "

"We Paid for a 2 nights stay with hot tub. As soon as we arrived we tried the hot tub, for it to have no power. The maintenance man came and sorted it, absolutely fine. We were very grateful for this. The next morning (Saturday) we ventured out to find there was no body around in the 'guest information' cabin that we could speak too about any shops or restaurants to find, we had to use our internet to find them. Came back at around 5pm we tried to turn the hot tub on following instructions from the info pack left by owners, to find once again, it would not turn on, we covered it over with the lid and waited an hour and tried again, as we thought it might be too cold, an hour later the hot tub still had no power, we rang the number left for us in the pack which stated it is available from 9am-9pm... no answer!! We also rang the number I received in an email via booking my stay for us to get no answer. We left messages and We have a call log of those numbers we rang both several times and not one answer from either!!! After an hour and half wait we got a phone call from a very irate lady who would not let me explain about our situation she was shouting at me down the phone about how dare I leave her a bad review on her Facebook page when she has been out on an emergency, I tried to tell her that I understand she been out on an emergency and we tried to ring the '24 hour service' to which again we received no answer. The lady then proceeded to scream down the phone that she has been to visit someone who is very ill and I am not making it any better for her, which is not something I want putting upon me as all I wanted was the hot tub to work. We will not be staying here again and definitely not recommending it to others. I paid a lot of money for this and not been able to enjoy it to the fullest advantage!!!! No customer service skills at all. God forbid there was a serious issue, we wouldn't have any help at all. On my arrival home I have tried to write a review on the Facebook page to find that I have now been blocked and unable to view anything on there! Absolutely disgusting customer service. Tonight (sunday) I have had threatening phone calls and threats of calls to the police, I have had the owners boyfriend/partner screen shot out Facebook profiles and tell us to watch our backs! Thankfully these where made via text message so we have all the proof needed should anything have a come back. All me and my partner wanted was a relaxing weekend away and what we have ended up win is threats of violence"

"This park is beautifully placed to explore Lincoln and the surrounding area. The lodges themselves are spacious, well-kept and comfortable, although they could do with a bit more storage for clothes and in the bathrooms (a shower shelf, maybe) . The second bedroom is two singles and has one small bedside cabinet. The hot tub at the back was great - I really want one now! Because all the windows have blinds you might not wish to open them until you are fully dressed. It was very quiet - I slept like a log all week. Kitchen not extensively equipped (tiny fridge), but has all the essentials unless you're planning huge fancy dinner parties! No dishwasher or wifi, if those things are important to you. We never turned the TV on all week! I would recommend this and would stay again with no hesitation."

"booked for one week last summer. was a freakily hot week! absolutely lovely wooden lodge, just my cup of tea! hot tub outside was very welcome and well used. nicely furnished although not great range of crockery/cutlery etc. lovely bedroom leading out onto decking. Fabulous bathrooms! claims to be pet friendly but really nowhere to walk your dog unless you go in the car to the nature reserve (which is great) they rely on the on site golf club for food/drinks etc but you cant take your dog! really have to use the car if you want to eat out or go to a pub as nothing in walking distance. overall a lovely lodge if you just want to chill out."

"Lovely accommodation and surroundings. Owners very accommodating, especially when I had to collect my cat at short notice and take him back to the Lodge with me. Hot tub was fantastic and we managed to use it every day, despite a rainless thunder storm! Would definitely go back and I would certainly recommend to anybody."
