"We stayed here for Easter 2019, we had The Belfry No 7. It was just lovely, it was so well equipped. We took our dog and he loved it too. My Husband is a keen fisher man and he was in his element. We will definitely be going back next year. The staff were also very helpful when I was booking, as I had lots of questions. I would recommend this to anybody looking for peace and quiet, spot of fishing and time spent with fiends."

"I work very hard as an emergency doctor and was very much looking forward to a break with my family. Even though we saw that there were reviews mentioning the cleanliness of the lodges we didn't think it could possibly be that bad! Well we should certainly have taken more notice of peoples comments!! When we arrived we realised within the first 2 minutes what a filthy, disgusting place it actually was. On first walking into the lodge I could see a used sock and a pair of dirty pants under the bed in the main bedroom, a collection of used tissues under the twin beds and what looked like masses of dog hair on the duvet covers (my son has a severe allergic response to dog and cat hair), fresh extensive blood on the sheets in the main bedroom, filthy stained towels, a dirty soiled toilet and masses of hair in the sink and shower plug holes - everything that scenes of crimes could use. In fact the only thing missing was the dead body! Perhaps I should have complained there and then but not wanting the ruin the children's holiday I got the vacuum out and my holiday started with me giving everywhere a good clean - although I drew the line at picking up someone else's dirty sock and pants. These I pushed into the corner of the utility with the vacuum. When we came to eat in later that evening I realised that the plates, saucepans cups etc were filthy. I had to put everything through the dish washer several times before we could use it. Knives, forks etc were literally coated in dried on food, all cups still had the dregs of dried coffee/tea, glasses were coated in God knows what and the fridge freezer looked like nightmare on Elm Street. I work in an A&E department and have seen less horrific sights!!! I could go on as this wasn't everything! The next day we did go to the on site Information Centre to complain - joke! It was just a storage place, no one was there. And don't be fooled that the golf course is anything to do with the holiday let (yes we went there too in desperation) - it isn't anything to do with the lets! I couldn't wait to get home. What made it 100 times worse was that on the last day I realised that someone had actually been into the let when we had been out the day before because the pants and sock were in the outdoor wheely bin!! That was very annoying and pretty scary to think someone had been in, without our knowing, doing goodness knows what. When we got home we managed via the internet to track down the owners. What a waste of time that was. We emailed them and they were nothing but extremely abusive and very threatening. It was very much a case of 'we've got your money, so get lost', although not in those words. Even though we had extensive photographic evidence there was in reality very little we could do about it. The only thing I can do is post this review in the hope that it will pre warn people against booking a holiday with these very nasty shysters. They really should be ashamed but clearly they couldn't care less. They will very liklely post a reply to say they did everything to sort this out blah blah blah and that we were the unreasonable ones. They didn't. Absolutely shameful."

"What a beautiful lodge. We were slightly concerned after reading reviews that the lodge was unclean but this was certainly not the case. We stayed at no7, perfectly clean, we were glad we didn't take our dog! The lodge was really warm so all the Onesies and extra blankets we took stayed in the car, we had taken plenty to see us through but found it really considerate that the lodge was well stocked with essentials. The hot tub was the perfect way to relax following a busy day of walking and exploring. There is plenty of space around the lodge for children to play without disturbing other families, the ducks wander around and will happily come to see if you have any food going spare. It was perfect for our needs, a great little find! "

"I booked a week at Belfry Lodge no 4 through Sykes Cottages using their 5 tick Deluxe section. On arrival we found the lodge to be very basic and absolutely filthy throughout. The first thing we did was to head out to buy bleach and kitchen cleaner. It took over an hour just to clean the 2 toilets which were disgusting, and then proceeded to clean the kitchen work surfaces before we could use the kitchen. The microwave and oven were unusable as they were beyond normal cleaning (particularly the oven which was thick with grease). The utensils draw was dirty and had hairs in it. The kitchen sink took ages to clean particularly around the tap as there was such a build-up of grime. The shower tray in the en-suite was particularly bad as were the sinks. The cheap laminate flooring was cracked, lifting and had chunks missing. It was absolutely filthy particularly around the base units in the kitchen. The cushions and sofa throw were put to one side as they were dirty. We put the towels and bed throw on top of the wardrobe as they were old, tatty, well-used and dirty (luckily we had taken our own towels with us). The bedding was old, tatty, mis-matched and well used with dubious looking stains, even clearly seen on the brown bottom sheet (we had to sleep on top of the bedding using a fleece throw that we keep in the car for emergencies). The wardrobe had 4 coat hangers (2 of which were broken), so we had to stack our clothes on the single beds in the second bedroom. There was an old battered hoover stuck in the corner of the kitchen and a very dubious mop and bucket outside the lodge. The flooring in both bathrooms was filthy, particularly in the corners, and there was no shelving anywhere in either bathroom to put toiletries (they had to be squashed onto the window sills). We had to wash all cutlery and crockery before we could use it. When we tried to contact the owner on any of the 3 contact telephone numbers, all went unanswered including the one to have the access code for the WiFi (we needed internet access to acquire the contact number for Sykes Cottages). All numbers went unanswered and so next morning we headed to the golf club to see if they had any connection to the lodges as the lodge park reception was closed and nobody about at all. They informed us at the golf club that they no longer had any connection to the lodge park as the lodges had been sold off privately. We headed to McDonalds to use their WiFi and eventually managed to contact Sykes directly. They listed to our complaints and said that they would contact the owner directly, and could we take photo evidence and email it to them (which we did - again using McDonalds WiFi). They agreed from the photos that it was completely unacceptable and would contact the owner straight away. After numerous telephone conversations between ourselves and Sykes, and after many attempts at their end to contact the owner, they managed to speak to her and came back to us (after 3 days of hassle and telephone calls) with an offer of a cleaner to rectify the problems. We agreed and headed off for the day, leaving the lodge to the cleaners with a list of the things that needed attention and that the towels in the bathroom were our own. When we returned, a couple of the minor issued had been rectified, but the cooker was still disgusting, as was the flooring and shower tray. They had changed the bedding with an equally tatty looking replacement and taken the towels and bed throw off the top of the wardrobe. Then came the worst shock - they had put horrible dark grey, bleach stained, tatty towels in both bathrooms and - taken my lovely, expensive, fluffy cream towels away !!!! I got straight on to Sykes and relayed all this, stating that I wanted my towels returning immediately. They said that they would contact the owner and get them returned. Within an hour, the owner contacted us directly and said that we had 1 hour to vacate the lodge due to our persistent complaining. We then had another call from her husband threatening us that if we did not vacate the lodge immediately he would "come and beat us up". We felt so threatened that we had to call the police. Obviously we were very happy to vacate the lodge and are now taking legal action to try and get our money back. We have also spoken to Trading Standards regarding Sykes description on their website that the lodge was Deluxe."

"Just returned from a fantastic weeks break at Belfry Lodge. The lodge itself was immaculate and the grounds well tended and pristine. The hot tub made our break and will now be an essential inclusion in future holidays. The park setting is quiet and peaceful but only a few minutes away there are lots of places to eat and drink but be aware, although the lodges are pet friendly not a lot of the local pubs/restaurants are. The fishing lake was popular with the fishermen and the walk around the nature reserve is well worth it. Places to visit- Lincoln Cathedral and Castle (no dogs allowed in Castle), and Newark. A fantastic break and would highly recommend."

"We have just returned home from a one week stay at Belfry Lodge and what a wonderful holiday we have had. I can't recommend this beautiful place enough. Peace and quiet, a fishing lake a golf course and a hot tub. The lodge was clean comfortable and had everything you needed. A lovely nature reserve right on the doorstep, great for walking Leo our Labrador. Shopping in Lincoln only a 20 minute drive away. Usually after a week away I'm ready to return home but I so wanted to stay on for an extra week, I was enjoying the holiday so much. We will be booking again for sure. If you are looking for a completely relaxing break with lovely surroundings and total peace and quiet, then book this beautiful lodge you won't be disappointed..........Jayne & Nick"

"On our arrival we where greeted by a dirty and smelly lodge. We managed to speak to the lady who runs them and she came 20 minutes later to inspect it. The general clean was very poor if it had be done at all and the smell was pungent. We where informed that it was the cleaners last day, but I thought it would have still been checked, the bedding was filthy and covered in pet and human hair. The seating area was filthy and the general condition of the bathrooms where poor. To the credit of the lady at that time she said she would bring a Hoover to clean it up and swap the bedding which again we where informed it was a lady with dark hair that does the laundry and would have transferred from her (by the way in the whole week we where their the only staff we saw was 1 ground staff gentleman who checked the hot tub every 48hours). When the Hoover was brought I set about cleaning it from one side of the lodge to the other while my wife set about cleaning the bathrooms. As I was using the Hoover it was actually chucking more dirt out than it was collecting as it was faulty, she went to get a hand held Dyson out of the office just to use for the weekend and she would swap it on Monday (this never happened as the guest centre was closed the whole duration of our stay). By this time our first impression wasn't very good, but again the lady mentioned that she would like to try and clean it, so we stood back and let her try and put it right. She went on to tell us that a previous holiday family had trashed it only 2 weeks earlier and it showed because none of the crockery matched, cutterly was missing and some of it wasn't great (no sharp knives for cutting, very cheap knives & firms which bent while trying to pick up items if food etc) but also said that on her leaving us for the evening that she would pop in us on Monday (which she never did) We found that trying to cook in the evening was like cooking blind as there was no lightening (extractor hood was filthy and smelt when opened up with no working light) We made a note of things that weren't working or damaged and we was going to give them to her when she came to see us on the Monday, which she never did and by this time we just wanted to make the most of a bad thing and carried on with the rest of our holiday. In the whole time we where on site we never saw anybody, so a lot to desired about customer service and also felt that our problems on Saturday where ignored as she couldn't keep her promise to see us. I would also strongly urge anyone who would think about investing in a lodge at the park to make sure you have caviouts inserted in to the agreements if your going to go down the rental route Disappointed as previous reviews where splendid "
