Stanhope is an ancient market town set in the Wear Valley in the North Pennines AONB and 22 miles away from the city of Durham. Within the town you will find a good selection of pubs, specialist food stores, coffee shops, art galleries, a heated outdoor swimming pool and riverside walks, plus the town is on the C2C cycle route. Attractions within the area include Hamsterley Forest, Killhope Lead Mining Museum and Barnard Castle.
