The hamlet of Maam is located in the heart of the part of Connemara known as Joyce Country, near the base of the Maamturk Mountain range, where the Bealanabrack River flows into Lough Corrib. Maam has a welcoming local shop and pub and features a scattering of dwellings typical of this area of Galway. This location is ideal for walkers and hikers to explore the rugged landscape, or why not get on your bike for a different perspective? Nearby attractions include Kylemore Abbey and Ashford Castle, while the town of Clifden is just a short drive away, home to a fantastic range of pubs, shops and eateries and holding a variety of colourful festivals and events throughout the year. With Westport and Galway City also within easy driving distance, and with numerous activities available in the region such as water sports, golf and horse riding, this is a great location for discovering County Galway.
