"Delightful spacious cottage! Has everything you could wish for. Very homely & extremely clean. Good quality bedding, towels, crockery etc. Garden not suitable for young children or elderly as not level and there is an unfenced pond which isn't easy to see. Everything else was beyond our expectations. Friendly & helpful owner."

"We stayed in this delightful cottage for new year, it is maintained to a high standard. There was a well equipped kitchen, the bed was very comfy and even extra blankets for those cold nights. The open fire was great to come back to after a day out in the cold winter air and it warmed up the downstairs of the cottage very well. There is also a local pub within walking distance, around 10mins, we had a few meals at the pub which were lovely. The cottage is in a quiet location, very peaceful and a good place to escape from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. It is also around a 20 minute walk to Ingleton and I thought it was a great location to explore the area. We also had complimentary locally produced eggs which were delicious and a Father Christmas chocolate, which my son was very happy to see when we arrived. We also had a complimentary bottle of processo to celebrate the new which was a lovely touch. The owner was also quick to respond to any queries we had, which was fantastic."

"This cottage is really lovely. Best we have stayed in for a long time. Really well equipped and all to a high standard. Loved the fresh flowers. eggs and milk on arrival. After fighting with traffic on the M6 it was such a treat to arrive and relax with a welcome cup of tea and in front of the cosy fire which we lit Nice little community, lovely walk in the nearby Edith's wood. We were blown away by the wonderful scenery, can heartily recommend a lunch at the pub in Mucker, and Dent Dale is amazing. Acutally went mad and did a drive up to Coniston - not too far and well worth it for the views enjoyed en route. We will definitely return. Sandy Jones. Now resident in North Wales."

"Had a lovely week in this very old picturesque cottage. Very pretty garden but unfortunately we couldn't sit out in it due to the weather. It did get very cold in the evenings/nights so the fire and extra jumpers and blankets and hot water bottles were needed. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the owner had left us a lovely welcome pack of fresh free range eggs and local milk which were much appreciated. Superb location with wonderful views and ideal for visiting both the dales and the Lake district. We found the double bed very hard and uncomfortable but that's just personal choice as we are used to a soft mattress. Only complaint was the shower over the very narrow bath ... It was just a trickle! But appreciate that it is an old cottage and still has its original bathroom. Lovely bright modern well equipped kitchen and dining room though in contrast. With a more modern bathroom and comfier beds and warmer weather it would have been 100% perfect! As it is I would rate it 85%."

"My wife and I have stayed in many holiday cottages in the past , but this one stands out as by far the best so far. The entire cottage is beautifully appointed and comfortable with wonderful attention to detail. Indeed the cottage is a credit to the owners and we would have no reservations about staying here again. Staying here really enhanced our visit to this remarkable area."

The cottage is very well-appointed and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. it is lovely and warm, furnished beautifully and has a very modern well equipped kitchen whilst the rest of the house has beautiful fire places with an open fire and oak beams. beds are extremely comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. garden is a beautiful cottage garden with a patio and seating area at the top overlooking fields. all in all a fabulous place to stay, would highly recommend"

"We know and love the area around Kirkby Lonsdale so the location was excellent - just off the main road, but definitly rural with walking oppertunities from the door and good views of Ingleborough even if you do not fancy climbing it. Pub ( with wifi and food) 15 mins walk. Shops, Pubs, Resturants, Markets and Supermarkets in Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle - max 20 min drive ( see my other reviews) The cottge is as pretty as it looks in the pictures and there is a pleasing attention to detail in things like cushions and flowers. Very well equipped kitchen. The rooms are spacous.Beds and chairs comfy. The garden would be lovely in the summer months - a real old fashioned cottage garden. So -it could be delightful, and I am sure it is in the summer. Why the low score ? We were freezing the whole stay, and this completely detracted from our comfort.. The property had been empty for several weeks and it was the coldest spring in living memory, so we realise conditions were unusual. When we arrived the cottage was perishing ! I wont go into details about the extent of the cold because its boring, but on phoning the owner the next day to say it was unacceptable the initial response was ' I dont know what I can do' and a denial there had been problems before - the visitors book records at least 2 other families having been cold. We agreed to keep the fire on for 24 hours and she brought over a heater at our request. The cottage did warm up a bit after 48 hours, but we were all relieved to get back to our central heating on return home (and we are the sort of people to wear jumpers etc indoors) . The problem in this cottage is the lack of proper central heating - it is night storage only. The cootage is old - thick stone walls and exposed in aspect. When it is really cold the heaters do not warm up sufficiently, and there is always the problem that they are at thier coldest in the late afternoon/early evening, just when you want to return to a warm cottage having been out all day. The fire does help but it is not practical , or safe, to have it on all day when you are out and about , never mind the fact you are being charged extra for fuel for what is essential and localised heating - our daughter wanted to study at the dining table but could never use it for long because she got so cold even with the fire blazing at the other end of the room. So - all in all - recommended but not for winter . A bit disappointed in sykes - have been to several of thier other properties without a problem but not a peep from them re this !"

"Bridleways cottagemakes for a delightful stay, you have the lakes to the west with all there beauty and to the east the beautiful dales with all the views and walks they have to offer, the towns of Settle, Hawes, and Kendle in the Lakes are just a short drive away and not forgetting the lovely train journey from Settle to Carlisle. Investigate the history of making the railway then visit the little church of Chapel-Le-Dale where some of the workers, children nad families are now resting. The waterfalls at Ingleton are a must to visit take your time and enjoy the walk remember to take your boots. A shop and restuarant are close by with fuel and small super market and shops at Ingleton. If you want a lazy day just sit in the elivated rear garden with a drink of your choice listen to birds and marvel at the colour of the butterflies as they flit through the flowers. What did we like the best..Everything. Having enjoyed this holiday was all due to the expert help we recieved from Sykes holidays throughout. Jill and Derek Freeman."
